Getting more accuracy/distance from A flex.

Bought an in between hybrid (5h) with an A flex shaft.

Any reason it should go further than my 4h and can’t seem to mishit it? Dead straight down the middle.

Someone said because I liad it better.

Should i change out my other hybrids to A fkex from all S flex?

Not even close to enough details to try and understand why you hit it better. Shaft flex is just one of many variables in judging why a club is a good fit. Playing length, shaft weight, swing weight, lie angle, face angle, even grip size can contribute to the fit of a club as well.

Just trying to understand why it works so much better.

My 4h and 6h are both S flex, which I hit both well. The 5 is on the opposite side of the flex spectrum. Sort of playing stiff iron shafts and having the 9 in the softest flex and hitting it longer and straighter than the 8 and 7.

Not complaining, just now I play the 5 more often and feel more confident hitting from 175 out.

I'm betting it's a combo of less weight and a smooooth tempo, possibly made smoother knowing it's an A flex.

 

Saw it during a round with my buddy - 113mph swing speed, tempo like Fred Couples. He had 265 to an uphill green in a slight drizzle, ball sitting up in light rough and tried my A flex Tour Edge 5 wood (my s/s is 80mph). Hit it string straight and flew over the green. Didn't make any changes to his clubs (x-stiff, 135g irons, etc) because he feared over-swinging. Or maybe because I told him it was a flyer lie that produced that shot.

Since there's no industry standard to flex (eg: some A flex shafts feel like other mfgr's R flex and vice-versa), you may want to try R flex as well. The A flex you've got likely has a softer tip as well. So many variables. Have your swing analyzed to see where you're at.
