Tried to book online for a round at Kananaskis in August and it appears to be fully booked!! Is this true??

Unfortunately it probably is...they released all their tee times last week, starting Monday for May, Tuesday for June, and so on...things will open up closer to the time. Even if you start looking again once the golf season gets going, tee times open up. I'm not saying you're going to be able to get a foursome, teeing off at 9am on Saturday morning, but a lot of times will become available. Everyone books the second they release the tee times because they know that's the only chance they have of planning something far in advance, but inevitably, plans and schedules change and a ton of those tee times go back into the mix repeatedly.

Yah if you are not picky about times and have time during the week as a single you will get a slot

Made the trek to Lethbridge yesterday, Played Paradise canyon.  16°. Was a bit windy, lol.   Not “blow you over” in the downswing though.  Course is very good shape, greens rolling about 9-10, and true.  
First round of the season since November.  Shaved 7 shots off on the back after the front nine.  Up and down from the sand on 18 from 118 yds, for par , lol.  So there’s hope yet!  
Got home to rain last night and heavy snow this am.  
Another week or so we might be on a course in Calgary.  🤞

I'm betting a course or two will open around the 13th, and a good chunk more around the 20th. I may also just be putting out what I want into the universe, lol.

My home track in Sylvan won't open until end of April. My Palm Springs golf vacation has come to an end, leaving this behind to come home to snow/rain, that just sucks.

Funny that out here in Bragg, we got 8" at Wintergreen and almost as much at Redwood. Weird that I'll be travelling to Grande Prairie next week for work and I'll be able to get on a golf course there, but not down here.

Fix will open for the weekend. 
a lot of the early openers will be open for the weekend like BD, HG, the track, speargrass.

A good chunk of public courses are opening here in Edmonton (I know the Ranch is open Redtail is open starting tomorrow I believe). I would imagine everything will be open by this weekend, there is really no snow here anymore.

Other courses are opening as well. Speargrass is open on Friday, The track on Sunday. Probably another handful of em. Its finally here!

Fox Hollow (regular greens) and Wingfield are opening on Friday. Looks like hot weather the next 6-7 days!

Ok first swings of the season have been taken. Room for improvement but not too shabby. 

Muirfield- This course can be good again. If they get the water. They have improved over the past two years when it was a poorly looked after course. I hope they can regain most of the conditions they had when they opened. Greens were good for early season. Not super patchy for grass. Good for them to rebuild this course!

The Track- Oh boy, they need water and work. For the causal golfer which it is catered to, it is ok. Lots of patches that need reseeding. Some greens were in bad shape from last year. I hope they get water and start to rebuild this course. Its layout is fun. The greens that are good are going to be wonderful. The overall shape has not changed much since last year. I hope they get lots of water and people playing. This course could be good if they can find some improvements on the fairways and some greens. 

It's early, I know, just sending out some positive vibes to these courses. We need em and they can be really good if conditions improve. 

Hope you all get out soon! This weeks rain should help a lot!

Looks like they're hosting another qualifier. I'm not the biggest fan of that place. I'm heading to Nanton lol.

Oh no, not the price. I just don't find that there's a single compelling or memorable hole on that track (Dancing Bull I think?). It's still new so the greens are rock hard, I've never found the conditioning to be any better than good, but mostly because it's just another wind-blown track on flat-a** prairie land. Not the worst around or anything, I just wouldn't go back there if it weren't for the odd qualifier.

In Edmonton. My course doesn't open until Tuesday so got my first round of the year today in 3 hours at a public track. Cannot wait, feeling like Christmas over. LFG!

Went to Cottonwood this weekend for a burger and a beer with a buddy who joined in the fall. 

 

The new grass practice range is enormous and looks like it is almost ready to go. With that change they have one of the better practice areas in the city.

For the Edmonton area, over the past couple of days I have played out in Cardiff, and the Links at Spruce Grove. Both were actually really decent for early season. If anyone is looking to play, both of those were well worth it. Our course opens this afternoon, so I am excited to see how it looks, but overall, everything seems to have wintered pretty well! Good start to the season.

Played the Dunes up in Grande Prairie yesterday. It actually wintered pretty well. The Country Club opens tomorrow, but I probably won't get out until the weekend thanks to work.

Priddis is gonna open may long at this rate. If I hear one more person say "well we need the moisture" I might snap lol. Riley's draw came out the other day, got guys from the Country Club in the first round, heard from a couple family members there that 4 or 5 greens are in tough shape again which is tough.
