Police called out over slow play incident?

I've read about complaints on slow play for over 10 years on this site. I've never heard of the police being called or members going to this length to make other members feel uncomfortable. I wonder why?

 

(Hint - if you start with any rationalization that they did something wrong, knowing you see slow play EVERYWHERE, you're part of the problem...)

This story really pissed me off. The club has issued an apology but the damage this club has caused will not go away.

So far behind after only 2 holes that they could skip #3? Not sure the police are necessary, but get them out of there. A hole open that soon in the round is inexcusable. Doesn’t matter if man, woman, transitioning, white, black or striped. You shouldn’t have a hole open by #3, and if you do, apologize for being slow and speed it the heck up.

If the five-some truly split up after 9, this should have ended with that. They were out of position early, but they should have given the remaining two a chance. Calling the cops over this is so lame, and speaks to that guy's lack of character.

My course won't let a 5some go , 4 is the max. To me that was the courses f-up from the get go. No cops don't need to be called unless a law is broken not a rule.

Got to love the type of journalism that's written just to be vague enough that folks from both sides can fill in blanks with whatever angle they deem fit and dig in for an argument!!!

I'm a member at this course. They ran a promotion for $177 for 3 years of greens fees. Golf is free if you walk and $12 if you ride, any time. They acquired 2400 members.

 

On this day there was a 30-45 minute frost delay. The course was booked and had a small outing in the morning that I played. I was on the course and did not witness any of the events.

 

The weather in the area has been dismal at best and this was the first real weekend of nice weather.

 

The women had 2 tee times for 6 people. One person didn't show so they were allowed to play a 5some.

 

From what I gathered, they were asked to keep pace and play ready golf, or pickup and skip a hole. They refused and were asked to leave. They refused to leave so the cops were called. Cops came and they picked up and moved ahead.

 

They finish 9 and proceed to go to the parking lot for 20-25 minutes. The group behind them finished 9, makes the turn and is ready to tee off 10. Three of the 5 women leave and the remaining 2 return to the 10th tee where the incident/video occurs.

 

The 2 women were then told to leave again since they had taken too long of a break. They refused and cops were called.

 

Like I said before, this is just what I heard floating about.
