Nike Sumo 2 Driver and Hybrid Pics!!!

On the range all day watching the show develop. We saw a lot activity today. Nike was testing the new generation of Sumo 2 with their staffers today. Here are some pics...

I actually like the looks of the new Sumo 2. The hybrid I am not crazy about, but the driver looks good for a square. Sound will be what I am most interested in finding out about.

Hopefully we will soon know more about specific SUMO2 and SUMO2 TOUR differences, AND will the TOUR model be a retail release, if so same time, later?

Yeah those are nice looking shoes. I guess square clubs are here to stay. I actually like the square hybrid.

I love the new look and gotta love the fact that they developed a hybrid. Looks like I should trade in my Sumo 2 and SasQuatch woods in very soon.

I must say, this square driver is prob the best square driver i've seen, not to bad mr. nike-oem. Hybrid, try again next year, but the driver isn't to bad

I definitely like the more tradition crown on the new SQ2. Doesn't look quite as much like a waffle iron... :russian_roulette:

Anyways, this does look pretty good now, I hope that they don't ruin it by closing the face 4* like Nickent did.

The subdued powerbow will appease a lot of people. I'm ready to hear what is different about this "tour" model. I'm sure sound will be one change, but I wonder if this has a different cog to change the spin/flight characteristics?

 

So far I like what I see, won't appeal to everyone, but nothing ever does.

Wow!! Thanks for the pics! Gotta say am impressed with the looks of the new square. The crown looks far superior to the old one (and will hopefully not have the problems with the composite coming away either). One thing puzzles me, however. I've heard some people state that the 'tour' sumo square has an MOI of around 4900. Yet the new, non-square sumo is said to have an MOI in excess of 5000. My question is, surely developing a 'tour' square at the expense of the MOI defeats the object of having square geometry in the first place. Does that make sense?

I like the look of the Sumo 2 over the original Sumo. I must say that I am not a fan of the hybrid though.

Although I'm not sure if I like the direction (dark path) Nike might be taking with clubs with a 'Tour' stamp on them, these clubs look great.

 

I was enjoying the current SUMO quite a bit, no itches to change clubs which is a first for me. But because of noise I started looking at some possible Taylormade replacements. I guess I can put that idea on hold. It looks almost more.. compact, and closer to a rectangle than the square SUMO2. (Could just be the pics though.)

marketing. if you can get a square shape driver, but say make it a tad smaller in length and width, but deeper so that it performs more like what a pro is looking for - maybe like the sq tour which is still popular among many of the nike staffers - but because it looks like the square driver in the store you can get people to buy more because so and so is playing it. while kj choi is a great player i don't think there are a lot of people running out to buy a sumo2 because he plays it.

would like to hear about the new sumo2 driver, because i thought the origional one was one of the shortest drivers i've ever hit (pretty straight, but too short to make up for it) and I do like the new fw's and hybrids for sure. More importantly I like the random shoe shot, man hasn't nike come a long ways in the golf world?

I'm not over impressed by the driver, although it looks miles better than the current version but the hybrid I could get excited about. I'm informed that there will be square Sumo irons on the way too very soon but i'm sure I will be sticking with my blades for now. Thanks for the pix tho.

I'm all over a pair of those!!!! Thanks for that pic, I was looking into some new ones and didn't really like the new FJ's. I'm getting used to the square toes on my sp7's.
