IMO, it did not enhance the looks.

Maybe if he covered the back with something decorative.....oh i don't know.....maybe a badge of some kind....

The demographic that plays UGI could almost care less what an iron looks like. They just want it to work. They do like seeing visual cues to tech though. Whether it be rubber for dampening or softness. A big cavity for forgiveness.

The enthusiast wants a sleek clean design. Even if they play at the same level the two different players have totally different views. They also like the colors.

Yep. I'd probably fall in the enthusiast camp. Play to around scratch. But have come to accept that looks are just that. Now at address I care. But the badging has absolutely zero impact on playability.

Lol that's the whole point. They are ugly. Next you are going to tell me I have to use the grips and ferrules it came with too?

To each their own. That's what is great about golf imo.

I love a nice clean iron. I hate badges and rubber.  Almost every OEM does this with every GI club now. It just isn't for me.

I will say this again...i find it so hard to believe maltby and wishon do all this great design work and make great clubs, but they clearly spend much less time on the aesthetics.  Like why would anyone put a plain bronze circle in the middle of a badge? Why put maltby in massive bold font on the sole?

Probably should have gone for the KE4 max.  SGI but much cleaner looking.

I'd agree with that. The KE4 has a much cleaner badge portion, but from address the STi2 looks perfect to me.  I really should mention that I know I can't do much better bang for my buck with the Sti2....so doing some mods at home makes it worth it for me.

I believe the KE4 Max doesn't come in left handed either.

Hope it works for you.  I'll be interested to see how they look when you're finished.  I like irons to look a certain way myself. My current set are Callaway Steelhead XR Pro that I buffed all of the black and face frost off to pure satin. I think they look way better than stock but I'm biased. 😉

I took the badge out of the back on an older set of Distance Master undercut cavities I had and it looked slick.  I don't have a picture I don't think.

I like minimal design work, but like bright colours.  Pink or orange or red paint fill for the iron numbers might look nice with all the coloring off the badges?

It looks like they are moving away from the sole branding.

Now you all know where the massive OEM R&D budgets go. It's mostly about the esthetics of the club today

I would agree the STi2 look better at address.....nothing off putting re the Max but they don't look as good to me in the playing position.  Re the cavity portion, meh, do what you must but IMO a waste of time.  Mine are filled with the one inch wide lead tape to get the weight up.  Can't see any of the badge as a result😉

I just ordered a bunch of 10g and 12g weights. I want to add some swing weight to my KE4s now that the simulators are open. I'll plot out shot patterns and dispersion. See if I can improve on something... that really doesn't need it.

All the stock heads have 8g weights. Should be fun. I have yet to tinker with the changeable weights.

Folks,

Just messing around today in the yard hitting my KE4 MAX 4 iron, which I just reshafted with a little heavier option, an Accra TZ5 105 utility graphite shaft, which came out last year. Shaft looks really cool too.

But I also do not think these heads are ugly, they sort of remind me of some older Callaway or Ping shapes. The point is, this has to be the easiest to hit 4 iron you can get if you want to avoid shovels without getting punished. Looks great from address, better than utility heads to me.

This one is built to a swing weight of D0 and it’s nice that if I want to take it to D3, I can just change the screw. I’ve played them all and these long irons stand out from the crowd. Consistent, easy to elevate and fast. Very confidence building club.

No issues with distance given the 5* gaps? Looking at the chart the Max uses 6 clubs to cover the spread of 7 clubs for the STi2 and KE4 Max.

I have no issues with distance gaps at all. Once I dialed in my distances they seemed automatic. I easily played the best golf of the year with the Ke4 Max, it wasn't even close really.

If you look at the side by side pic, STi2 on the left, there are only two clubs at 5° gaps. Then it breaks to 4° and then 3° at the top of the bag. The GW and PW are the 5° clubs. then the nine and on are 4°. Both the PW and GW are clubs I can lay off of  or step on at will. The rest of the irons I tend to make smooth repeatable swings. So the clubs in my bag I'm most creative with are the PW GW, so the 5° gap is no issue. I found distance control to be borderline amazing. Not to mention a forgiveness factor that is tough to over look.

The TS3 is going to have a tough time trying to knock the KE4 Max out of the bag.

Has anyone had GolfWorks adjust one of their Pure-Track putters for an armlock setup?

I did a DIY adjustment to an old Snake Eyes putter I had laying around (bent the shaft a few degrees). Kind of like it, but thinking a purpose built head would be best. Particularly because the lie on my DIY one isn't upright enough.

GW said they can do it (specifically looking at the PTM-1). Stock lie is 72*. So in addition to bringing up the loft, I'd have them adjust the lie to 75* or so.

Would be great to hear how it worked out if anyone else has gone down this road.

I have read several responses from Jim Y and probably Britt as well, the putter heads do not have enough loft. A true armlock requires around 7* of loft.

Can I use Maltby Pure-Track Tour Milled PTM-5 Mallet Putter Head for a arm lock putter? If so what shaft do I need and grip.

This putter head is not designed to be used as a arm lock putter. Arm Lock putters generally have between 5 and 7 degrees loft and this putter head has 3 degrees loft. We also do not have any longer double bend putter shafts that would work for an arm lock putter. You could use on of the longer Putter Hosels (GW0138) and a putter shaft like the TT0001P putter shaft and create an assembled putter length that can be long enough for an Arm Lock putter. The Putter Hosels can be adjusted so that the loft can be adjusted in the 5 to 7 degree range. We have the Super Stroke Traxion Flatso 17" (ST0138) which works for an Arm Lock putter.

@SE Gamer

From my conversations with them, GW has little to no interest in armlock, broomstick, or sidesaddle components.  I'll tell you that long putter shafts are very hard to find.  There is a guy in AZ who sells them on eBay for fairly big bucks, probably because he has the market to himself.

Value Golf sells armlock heads but even they don't seem to have a long shaft.  @ValueGolf

This head is 7 degrees loft but no lie spec is given, as far as I see:

It's such a small Niche market. No one wants to invest in equipment.

Yeah, it's a small market (currently). And while GW isn't exactly some hole in the wall shop, they're not some massive corporation either. So they have to be a little more deliberate in where they allocate their resources.

The shaft length wouldn't be an issue. I already have some extensions on-hand for added length, if needed.
