Best Inland Courses Scotland

Hello Guys.

 

I have to choose between a few inland courses for my golf trip in 2019.

 

I already played Ladybank a few years ago and liked it.

 

Now I have to choose between Gleneagles, Blairgowrie, Spey Valley and Boat of Garten. Can you tell me the differences between them? They all look very similiar to be honest...

 

As money is an issue, how would you decide? Is it still worth to play Gleneagles (Kings + Queens)? (I can always come back and play it when I have more money.) Or can I choose a cheaper option and still have a great/beautiful course?

 

I also will play The Carrick, as it's on my way back to the airport. Any opinion on this?

 

When I look on the Top 100 lists, I would guess the best Inland Courses are:

 

1. Kings

2. Queens

3. Blairgowrie Rosemount

4. Spey Valley

5. Boat of Garten

6. Ladybank

I have played the Kings, once, 15 years ago and I enjoyed it but not so much I'd rave about it. I haven't played the Queens. I think you can be sure that Gleneagles golf won't come cheap.

 

Played 2 rounds on Spey Valley last summer. Thought it was a pleasant course in splendid surroundings but not something I'd get very excited about. When we were there it wasn't getting much traffic. We managed to get a great deal on 2 rounds with Bed & Breakfast in one of the Aviemore hotels - unbelievably cheap.

 

Boat of Garten is lovely and won't disappoint but for what it's worth, for me, Rosemount is a little piece of golfing heaven. Play it; I couldn't recommend it more highly. (And if you have the time play there in the morning and on Landsdowne in the afternoon. Should the sunshine for you I don't think you'll have many better golfing days.)

Blairgowrie and the Kings are the best of them.

 

Queens is short and tight.

 

Spey Valley was ok.

 

Beat of Garden I loved when I was a kid but not played for years.

 

Ladybank i have not played.

I played Spey Valley last year and it's probably 20 years since I played Boat. Even though distance lends enchantment I'd say Boat is the better course, again, in a beautiful setting.

Played Gleneagles Kings in 2009 the week after The Open, it's a great course, but it kicked our butt! The wind was blowing 40 mph along with seeing all fours seasons during the round.

Played King's and it's one of the best courses I have ever played, fantastic! and they say Queen's it's as good as King's, just shorter.

If money is a consideration, this summer a day ticket (2 rounds) at Gleneagles is £300 while at Blairgowrie it's £130.

Yeah money is a consideration. But it's not like I couldn't afford. I play Dornoch three times the trip and it's not the cheapest one... but it's worth the money.

 

Gleneagles may be worth the money too, but at them moment I am thinking that I can save some money there to play courses that aren't too bad either. (Blairgowrie, Spey Valley, Boat of Garten)

 

I will play Gleneagles some day for sure, but I think I will save it up for another trip. We will see... the trip will be in May 2019, maybe my opinion will change until then.

Horses for courses but I'd play Blairgowrie Rosemount ahead of both the Kings and Queens.

I know this might be a silly suggestion, stay at gleneagles, when my dad stayed there he would get 2 rounds of golf cheaper or free. the hotel is not cheap though.

 

didn't do the trip this year so can't comment If it is still the deal.
