May I Edit/Modify a Score I Goofed in GHIN?

This is the first year I've officially kept a GHIN handicap and it's been interesting reading all of the vanity vs bagging talk.

 

I play a league but not much for tourneys so I'm more of a vanity type however, I absolutely want it to be an honest and true handicap. It pains me to have to enter those high 80s scores but I suck it up.

 

I noticed this morning though, that I somehow goofed up a simple 9 hole score at another club that I entered yesterday. It was supposed to be a 42 but it's listed as 79.

 

Is there any way of correcting it? I cannot seem to find any edit option.

You can't edit it yourself but your handicap committee can. Usually the club Pro is the one to talk to, but if not he/she should be able to tell you who to go to.

 

BUT - are you sure that's not a combined score you're seeing? is it marked as a "C" score?

 

The system will combine two 9 hole scores to get an 18 hole score that's actually used for the handicap calculations.

Someone (typically a handicap chair) at your club has an account with ghinclub.net -- they have the ability to log in and edit a score. Try asking in the proshop to see if they know who that is.

 

Edit: Good point about the C score, too.

If it doubled the score to make it an 18 hole score, why wouldn't it have gone in as a 42 x 2 = 94? Crazy 'cause I was certain that I had entered the 42 but heck, I suppose that if I did, it wouldn't be screwed up! Lol!

Ok, so now we'rte getting somewhere. I entered the 42 for a 9 hole round at a public muni and I entered the 37 I shot in the league at my home club last evening and darned if 42 + 37 doesn't equal the 79.

 

 

Would it combine two scores from two courses?

Combined..... it's been added to another 9 hole score to create an 18 hole score.......

Being in Michigan we just started using GHIN this season for handicapping. While it's better in many respects, it's seriously lacking in 9 hole score reporting. Once you enter a 9 hole score, it's lost in the void until you post another which it gets combined with.

 

So if you can't remember if you posted a 9 hole score, there's no way to tell.

 

Also, the course description gets truncated to 30 characters, so I have several combined scores in which only the first 9 hole course is displayed such as

 

Shepherd's Hollow Golf Club Ho

Pontiac Country Club / Fieldst

 

 

There's no way to tell what the first one was combined with. The 2nd one I can tell because I know the courses I played, but it's truncated from "Fieldstone Golf Club"

So if you can't remember if you posted a 9 hole score, there's no way to tell.

If you use the Ghin app on your phone, you can get more statistics than you can going to Ghin.com on your computer. On the main page, click STATS, then click Nine Hole/Combined from the pull-down menu. If you have an "unpaired" 9-hole score, it will be highlighted in red. That page should also give you better information on the location of each 9-hole score posted.

That screen is still truncating the combined course name. I will double check the solo 9 the next time I get one in there. Thx

Yeah, when you post on their web site, it does show up at the bottom of the score listing along with the 9 hole differential, but if you login again later, no way to see it.

 

And this brings up the one time I had to call in to have a score removed. I had shot a personal best 2 under par in my 9 hole league and when I posted the score, the web site was really, really slow. After clicking "post", I got the spinning wheel of waiting for around 5 min. I gave up, switched to a different tab and did some other stuff. When I checked again, I was back at my score listings with no 9 hole score at the bottom. So of course I tried posting again and *boom* a 68 pops up. No way I could let that stand with it's negative differential!
