2005 vs. 2006
I was at a local golf shop looking at the Hoofer Extreme and noticed that the 2006 Hoofers have a wider and more stable stand mechanism than the 2005 models. I compared about 3 or 4 of each to eachother and noticed the same thing with all of them. I called Ping and asked the customer service rep about it and he stated that "...as far as I know nothing was changed about the stand mechanism." I found this answer very curious given my findings. Does anyone know if the stand is indeed different on the 2006 model?

The stand is different. Look at how the wires come out of the bag. If you have a plastic piece holding them together then you have the older model. The new model does not have this plastic piece and the wires bisect each other.

They did change the stand mechanism, I have alot of problems with my stand in the 2005 version, flimsly and hard to open at times.

The stand and the bottom are different from 2005. Sadly the rest of the bag is still pretty cheaply/flimsy assembled. They realize they don't have the best stand bags anymore and are working on correcting it. That was from a store rep. that attended a ping sales/seminar last week where he expressed that concern.

I like the Hoofer Extreme. I think the dividers are just right. Simple, but perfect for 14 clubs.

I think O'gio makes the best stand bags. I had a Hoofer Extreme for a couple of months and returned that piece of crap. The sad part is I have always played Ping bags and I really wanted to like the Extreme, but it was a complete piece of junk!!! Also, the holes on top are too small and the full length dividers were not secure and the grips would still get tangled at the bottom. If you use a putter cover, good luck getting it to fit in the hole... The only positive was looks and it was comfortable to carry.

I was planning on asking for a Hoofer Extreme for a Christmas present. I had decided on the Red and Silver one, but now I am second guessing pursuing putting it on my list. I have heard a negative review of it, and a posotive review of it, what do the rest of you guys think of this bag? I am currently using a J-Bag and I love the shoulder straps also the general looks of the bag, but with the inside dividers have started to rip out, so it's time for a new one (it's seen over 250 rounds this season, so I'm not dissapointed about how it has held up).

What are your thoughts about the quality of the '06 Hoofer Extreme?

Thanks guys, Bryan

I don't like the Extreme's divider system. Look for a Hoofer 2 or 3.
