MD/DC/VA Golfers - Twelve Monkeys Mental Divergence

Gotta be honest, the latest iteration of the faux thread outrage over what people spend on golf stuff is just as not-amusing as it was the last time it came up.

Damn! Who dat chick?

Oh by the way. Reports of a possible active shooter incident at Walter Reed. Rockville Pike is closed. Who knows how long it'll take me to get off NIH campus.

Exercise.

The word now is "ad hoc drill". Great. Let's screw up all of Bethesda traffic for an "ad hoc drill".

May as well start walking home.

Yeah, I'm thinking about it.

Come on, Tex.

It's twice as heavy as the Ping Moonlite and has half as many straps.

Will it last longer? Maybe but, it's 10X more expensive. It's not going to last longer than 10 Moonlites.

I'm TOTALLY FINE with someone owning a Mackenzie bag, but let's be real : you're not spending the money on the utility anymore than someone with a Rolex is spending money to tell time better (or someone buying a $400 Bobby Grace to putt better).

There are reasons to buy one, but "light" and "long lasting" are not them.

Different strokes for different folks.

Do not care what bag anyone plays or uses.

Not trying to sell you on anything.

For someone that has used one for a little bit/ seen them... just trying to give an opinion.

Like getting fitting or not. People make their own decisions

Come on City...

About two years ago I ran into this guy that had one of the expensive leather bags at Needwood on the 18th duck poop hole.

After flubbing his second shot close to the pond, He called me over and I thought he wanted me to shoot the yardage for him.

Instead he asked me to hold his bag on his next shot so it wouldn’t be soiled by duck poop!!

Naturally I asked him to go lick himself.

GTT:

At this point I’m ditching the driver, 3 wood, Gap, and 60. I would probably score better and may make this a setup when I go to the beach next summer. Could go heavy irons or heavy hybrids depending on my mood.

I have a Jones Original. Heavy duty canvas/plastic that combats wets conditions that I paid $80 for. Fun as hell for half sets and light walks. I can lay it anyway and not worried about it getting wet or what gets on it because a quick blast from the hose cleans it off.

Would I love a soft, custom Makenzie or Seamus that wears in, patinas over time, and I can pass down to my kid? Maybe, but not for $1K or even $500, and the stress that for me comes with trying to protect the leather from water damage, goose droppings, and whatever chems are in the grass (either invisible or like the aqua-colored fertilizer that is sometimes sprayed).

I played with a gang whom all had Mackenzies (I was given side-eyes for my TM Flextech), and they all had the chopstick, wooden stands that costs almost as much as my stand bag itself. Drove me nuts watching them have to take out the chopsticks everytime they wanted to lay down the bag. We played as an 8-some at one point and it must have looked like an Chinese restaurant invasion with 7 guys carrying life-size chopsticks every shot. The common sense in me couldn't figure out why you would pay 800-1000 for a carry bag only to have it stand... To me, the whole idea of a "Sunday" bag is to slosh around and not have to worry about where it lands or what it does.

But to each their own... Needless to say, I was never invited back which I attributed to my lack of a Makenzie, retro Tour Visor, and Footjoy Classic Dry Premieres... Nothing against those guys, but I tend to agree that you don't spend that kind of dough and dress a certain way unless you are trying to present a "cult" image. I got the sense that the image was more important than your game. I like to let my accessories show a little who I am, but golf itself is always my focus at the end of the day. I was definitely a tuna in a school of salmon, and have no desire to be judged by how I look but rather how I play....

Truth. Few rounds with him already, good guy, great golfer, some good stories told in the short time I've known him. Also has an vice for cigars, so he'll fit right in. He's very much in the same zen-zone as Dom, so playing with him will help some of you calm tf down, too.

I just saw z-stars at discount golf at like $8.50 for 6. IOW, about $17/duzzie.

Sometime yesterday they removed the 2x per customer limit, and over certain $ have free shipping, so thanks for the original tip. I picked up multiple duzz for shiggles - got enough to smooch around for the next 2-3 seasons minimum. Gonna go choke myself now.

Rename Yourself Wednesday: In the new thread tradition of renaming yourself after your most dominant shot shape like HighBoomingDraws and TheButteryCut, change your handle. Feel free to do so Native American style, a la Dances of Wolves.

I can't decide between LowPullsLeft and Beheader of Earthworms.

I'm trying really hard not to order a set of Z785s. Especially considering that you can add any Dynamic Gold shaft and Z-Cords for no upcharge.
