The real reason golfers don’t get better with practice

We know, you talk about what works for you in just about every thread. It is odd though, that you dote on what didn't work for you and your thought process, yet seem to think what works for you and through through process will work for everyone else.

Just about no one in this forum will advocate following golf magazine tips, just about everyone in this forum will say the best instructors are those who can gauge the best approach based on each individuals style of learning

Maybe step out of your world? Obviously this is how I learn/play. And if nobody follows the magazine tips...why do they publish them?

That is an interesting thing to say, when I'm not the one that goes OT in lots of threads and repeatedly grandstand in an attempt to influence people.

They publish them because people buy them and try them, most of the people who do that are not posters in this forum, thus you are essentially preaching to the wrong choir. You need to walk the line at the range and find the guy hitting pounding away at two big buckets of balls.

Preaching what exactly? I don't subscribe to herd mentality...the "most" you allude to. And as usual, guys like you totally dismiss a comment and jump into defense mode. Move on.

I may add, my level of proficiency at my age is not going to get any better. I rather spend my time playing than practicing.

Certainly not with that attitude!

But this brings up a good point. There is a large sub-section of golfer's who aren't truly interested in getting better. their time at the course is where they find enjoyment. And there are the constant tweakers, where much of the enjoyment comes from the process of improving itself.

What are you talking about? So I'm happy with my game, who are you to judge me? I wasn't asking for your opinion, but stating my fact.

You are complaining about FourTops, but you should do some soul searching of your own.

I don't even know why he's complaining about me. I offer my thoughts and it's not allowed...I don't get it. But to you....I agree...we all enjoy golf in our own way. Why do we have to defend ourselves? I often find a comment gets me thinking about something I never thought of. I'm open to suggestions.

Dang man, relax! I'm not judging you at all, quite the opposite. The thread is about why golfers don't get better, the reality is there are plenty of golfer's completely content with their game and don't need/want to get any better to enjoy Golf.

You might want to do some soul searching of your own as well if you found anything in my post offensive or judgmental.

As an olive branch....i might understand you if you tell me your views on golf...maybe how you approach learning...what works for you. I think you...in my opinion based on your comments....it seems like you push very hard to be the best at what you do. I totally get that. But keep in mind we all feed off each other for ideas...experiences that others have gone through.

So have at it...maybe what you think and do will help us.

You guys take this Sh- to PM.

The back-and-forth is doing a lot to ruin an otherwise decent thread.

I'm going to put myself in there with you. At 68, half my neck fused, some shoulder impingement, 100+ miles to who might or might not be a good teacher .... there's not much overhead left. Per Obee, I added a 6 hybrid, great addition, now I'm looking for a 7. Not enough hybrids, that's why people don't get better.

OMG...I LOVE hitting my Ping hybrids dead-on to a pin while younger guys show-off with their regular irons....leaving them short or in bunkers. Hybrids are part of the learning process....want to keep on topic.
