PGA Tour Live Replaced with NBC Gold?

I see the verdict is still out on the Amazon PGA Tour Live vs NBC Sports Gold. Any on care to comment on the difference between the two? I have PGA Tour Live app on amazon prime (9.99/ month) and covers the two feature groups live. Does the NBC gold app offer a better service? Trying to figure out which app to go with this year. All of the majors are blacked out on the pga tour live on amazon. Does NBC Gold offer the majors to stream live?

NBC Sports Gold is CARRYING PGA tour live. It is the SAME coverage as through Amazon.

 

The PGA TOUR Live app and the subscription through that App are gone as one of the distribution choices.

 

It’s $65 for the year though NBC sports gold. Why pay 9.95 a month if you want it year round?

I don’t understand this comment. I do not get any ads on NBC sports gold on any of my Apple devices. I get occasional dead air time where ads COULD be placed, but I dont actually get any ads. I’m guessing they incorporate the dead air time for overseas broadcasts that wish to insert ads.

 

PGA tour Live did exactly the same thing last year when using their App so it is not any different.

On the website NBC runs ads. You have to disable your ad blocker too.

For those that are having connection and buffering issues what speed connection do you have? ON 1TB at home and have had zero issues today.

There is a big difference between the NBC Gold streaming and the Amazon. I’ll repeat them here since I tried out NBC Gold first before cancelling and switching to Prime.

 

1. For web streaming, Amazon uses HTML5 and NOT Flash. This means you can reasize the window to whatever size you want. So it’s easy to have a small Window along with other windows. I need to check but you may be able to do Picture in Picture on macOS. Flash is horrible as a video platform.

2. The iPhone/iPad app does not have an Add banner across the top of the feed. So you get a full screen video.

3. The NBC Gold iPad app does NOT support Picture in Picture. So like #1, you can’t watch the coverage while doing other things. You can with Amazon Prime.

4. Amazon prime is available on Xfinity X1 boxes so it’s available on any TV in my house.

This is exactly what I was looking for. That's why I kept sayng that there was so much different info about both of these and no one still seems to know. Everyone keeps saying they are the same. Im watching Genesis today from my mac through amazon on PGA Tour Live and have zero ads. It's not the full televised airing on GC or NBC but they have 2 feature groups plus 2 feature holes. Good enough for me!

I didn’t even know I could get it on amazon prime. I didn’t sign up for it specifically on Amazon.. Now I’m confused if I wasted money signing up on NBC Sports Live. I wonder if it just knows I signed up for it already and I can get it on all the platforms it’s offered. Very. confusing.

 

It is pretty cool that. I can apparently get it two ways now. On prime I can minimize the screen and have it in the corner of my iPad. I’m typing this now with the little window in the upper right corner of my screen with volume on the coverage . Nice!

Just seeing this, but I happened to sign up for PGA TOUR LIVE via Amazon (watch via the Prime Video app) a couple of days ago and it works great on iPhone, MacBook (Firefox), Apple TV on flat screens throughout house, etc. $64.99. Almost had ordered through the alternative NBC Sports Gold platform, however, in searching for a promo code, I read that Amazon also had it, which seemed quicker and easier (already had an Amazon Prime account and the Prime Video app).

If you sign up for PGA TOUR live through amazon and pay either 9.99/month or the yearly subscription, you get all day, every day coverage of feature groups and feature holes.... Every day the tournaments are played + a bunch of recaps and bonus footage.

Does anyone have buffering issues with prime? I had the pga tour live app pat year and would watch over mobile wifi with little to no issue. Seems like the pre app buffers every 2 minutes.

You can get the season option after you hit the subscribe button. I did it earlier today.

I did the 9.99 a month thru amazon because if I start playing in spring I won’t watch anymore after the Masters anyhow. So like 2-3 months of $9.99, maybe start it again later in the year .
