But last week the course was as soft as I can ever remember it, and as we saw Saturday it could be over powered by guys taking dead aim at flags and the ball stopping where it landed. This is the perfect scenario for Rory, as all his majors have come on rain softened courses that he could attack.

You think 30 yr old world #4 who is younger, more recently accomplished, than the next 25 guys in world golf ranking, wont have more good opps on a course where course knowledge means so much? It's not like he's 49 with the yips or something. Agree to disagree I guess.

Thats not actually my point, its the OPs, but it certainly been true before. I believe Rory can improve and contend in any condtions as it stands now. Then factor in his ball flight I think he will do fine at AN, for years to come.

Oh I agree. Anyone can improve.

But his mental game will have to before he will ever win there. He gets the negative body language ( give up) walk going way to early to win Augusta. Masters isn’t ever over until back 9 Sunday. He needs more fire. Not more juggling and not more zen teachings to progress. If anything his mind has always seemed to me like it’s too accepting of defeat. And lately he’s tried to go down that road a little further. It’s odd to me.

Golf is so much easier when you are talking about it on the internet, than it is when you're trying to hit shots on the course.

Add in a gallery, tv crews following you during the round, the knowledge that commentators are dissecting every move you make, and interviewers after the round. "Hi Rory. What was going through your mind when you were throwing up all over yourself on the back 9?"

It's fun to watch the made-up issues, motivations, etc. that you guys ascribe to Jack, Tiger, Greg, Rory, etc. Fascinating.

Hell no I didn't want Rory to win last week. I wanted the tiger fairytale like everyone else. A Rory win wouldn't have moved the needle at all, Tigers win put golf on the front and back pages again. I like Rory, but for whatever reason I seem to like him more when he doesn't win.

I think 2015 was probably his best chance (well since 2011), he had just won two majors at the end of 2014 and was playing very well at the end of 2014/start of 2015. I don't think he had the baggage on the course that he has now and was never more confident. He shot 68 and 66 on the weekend blitzing a damp course, but he went out too conservatively on Thursday, not realising that Spieth was going to shoot 64 and for 4 other players to shoot sub-68. In the end, he outscored Spieth over the final three days but the damage was done.

He needs to just play web.com style and just try to shoot 62 every time. He's bound to get lucky one of these majors.

So yea. He tied Spieth. The kid who’s said to be destined for retirement. Lol.
