75 last night in league play, 1 bird and 4 bogey's. Lost the game for 10 days with mid-back issues on the right side

The index is down to 1.4 but I have a 72 coming off the hdcp card next round

Blueprint irons arriving within 4 days, 410LST scheduled to arrive June 26 still ! I also have some 620 mb's on order for late August

I've learned how to alleviate the back pain to a significant degree and hit it even purer ... narrower stance and stay tall thru the shot, feels like I have massive extension of both arms past the ball. Miss is a slight pull though, but all shots right off the centre of the face

Good playing Cards. I've been out of commission for a week with back spasms myself. Playing the weekend in the FL State Mixed Partners Championship with my daughter up at Innisbrook over the weekend. Just left PT & Chiro...hoping I'll be able to swing unrestricted. Played in US Senior open qualifying 2 weeks ago at Bear's Club and although very nervous, didn't embarrass myself at 5 over and beat a lot of pros. Current index is 0.6

Get some warm clothes and play all year. I dunno how cold it gets in Canada but I played in the snow, sleet, gales and whatever all year.

But seriously (re: last question), how do you keep up this level of game during the winter? In my area, we get maybe 6.5 months of golf weather (all courses closed by/close to Nov. 1, don't reopen until mid-April), and it takes me what feels like a third of our season to get back to decent form.

Courses aren't open that's the problem. Most private clubs open early May on East coast. Public courses maybe 1-2 weeks earlier depending on how far south you are.

 

Western Canada, like Vancouver, is a bit different. Eastern Canada you can't play golf in February LoL, even if you are dumb enough to want to in -25C

Golf domes, virtual golf....short game suffers the most.

 

I'm a scratch with the ballstriking of a +4 and the short game of a 4. I don't hit a long pitch for example for 5 months sometimes

Same here. In ND and western MN, there's no place to play in the winter -- it's not a question of toughness, but courses are closed, completely covered in snow, and/or re-purposed for sledding, cross country ski, hockey, etc.

 

We do have a decent virtual golf facility (albeit expensive), but I've got this mental block where I find it more difficult to take time away from work or family for what feels like a fancy video game than I do for golfing outdoors. Probably a good idea to hit the sim range a few times at least though.

 

BTW, that's an incredible ball striking handicap. I just returned from a round at a _very_ easy par 3, where I completely lost my ability to strike the ball ... felt, literally, like I was playing golf for the first time. This freakin' game ...

Just a sidenote

Our club won the inter club championships ... 40 clubs in regionals then 10 clubs at finals

45 holes, 6 guys per team, cumulative 2 man Stableford

End up in a 2 man playoff vs two guys from the team that tied us

Made a 40 foot birdie on first hole to win the whole shebang

Good times ... pretty exciting with the teammates !!!!!!!

The mojo then hid two days later and I sucked in the club C

I sucked in my CC aswell, my problem is we are 27 holes and one of the 9s kills me. Doesn't suit my game plus I just dont like it...Whenever we play our original 18 I'm really good. When our tournaments are on this 9 (as our two rounds were this year) I have a tough time

Closing Fall report, one more Tip & Tuck to go next week and I am done event golf up here in Canada

 

We were 2nd last week at a brutal tip and tuck, -4. 7,400 yards and no roll.

 

Closing men's night 2 man scramble, 3rd place at -8.

 

I spent 2300 on gift certs on the 410 LST and Blueprints and still have $2500 more to burn thru

 

Summary of 2019:

 

75 rounds to date. (25 less than usual, bought a cottage so rarely play on weekends anymore)

Index low of 0.9 mid-season, 3.8 right now

4 rounds under par ... two 68's and two 70's. That's 2 more than usual. All of them on men's league day which was wild. Rode a HOT streak middle of summer

Scoring avg of 76.9

 

Happy with driver and putting and sand play, 5w, and both hybrids

Need to work on 6 iron to PW, ID'd as worst part of game. Going to play more with 919T set and see how that pans out

 

Not heading to Florida until Jan 2nd. Two weeks later than usual. Fitness focus until then, really want 5mph more speed and more flexibility / weight loss

 

EQUIPMENT: May order t200 irons. Still playing around with 3 wood shafts. Will use some of my certs for a new driver in Spring 2020 as well. Ordering a G wedge in 919 to match the Mizzy irons

Need to sell some more iron sets, thin the herd

 

Overall, I'd say I was very happy with the year except for Club C's (the usual crap play).

Next year will try again to get down to 0 or +1.

It was a very cold Spring and Summer weather didn't really start until the first week of June .. 5 weeks late. I need a longer season - with less back issues - in 2020.
