Best Stand Bag for Cart Use

I’m a weekend player that spends a lot of time at the range during the week. I never walk and always ride.

I currently have a C-130 which is a great bag, but it’s just not capable of standing up on its own and it drives me nuts. I also don’t like how the side pockets are so floppy. It’s always a pain to load on a cart beside another bag. I always have to tuck both sides in.

I’m looking for a stand bag that’s great for cart use. So far the Titleist hybrid 14 is leading the way, but I’m soon to have no Titleist clubs in my bag so I just don’t know if I can handle having a Titleist bag. I’m a bit turned off of the big flappy Sun Mountain pockets so thought I’d reach out to everyone for recommendations. I suppose it doesn’t have to be a stand bag, but I’d really like something that can stand on its own fairly sturdy at the range or bag drop without me worrying about it falling over.

My main suggestion would be a bag that has the stand mechanism built into the base of the bag instead of a "foot" sticking out at the bottom to activate the legs. Makes it much easier to fit into a cart, and the only downside is they sometimes have a little more club tangle, but that shouldn't be a huge issue since you'll be riding most of the time. Titleist, Taylormade, and Ping, among others, would fit this category.

 

I have last years model TM Flextech and like it quite a bit, only complaint on a cart would be that the cart strap goes right over the large apparel pocket so it can be a little tricky to get into. The new Flextech has a cart strap pass-through to solve that problem though. Other than that, it has pockets for days and I can't see needing any more space unless you like to carry loads of stuff with you. Flextech Lite seems to be a good option for a slightly lighter bag with a few less pockets, but still plenty of room, and will probably be the direction I go next time.

I could have written this post because I’m in same boat. I’ve had C130 for a few years. Just a little to heavy food my liking and always tips over at the range. I’ve been researching for a few weeks now and the final contenders are Ogio Alpha RTC 514, Cobra Tour Crown, and Sun Mountain 4.5 LS. All are stand bags. I’m leaning towards the Cobra since it’s made by Vessel and I have almost all Cobra clubs. The Ogio RTC is damn near perfect though

Ogio RTC or Titleist Hybrid 14 are leading the way right now. The RTC is single strap with an awesome system to hide it on the cart. The Titleist is dual strap but can be converted to single. It clips off easy enough but there’s no Hideaway pocket. I think both are my best options for what I want.

 

Carl’s golfland has a great sale right now on the Ogio and I think the Titleist as well. I’ve seen the cart bag at the store and it seems pretty sturdy standing on its own, but I’m still leaning towards legs.

I don’t like the C-130 all that much. The pocket design on the sides annoys me. They are too floppy and they stick out too far. Makes the bag wider than it needs to be. I always have to tuck both sides into the cart. Since they are always rubbing they are constantly getting scuffs and dirt on them as well.

I can’t speak to the C-130 but I haven’t had those issues with the C-130S.

I was in the same situation as you at the beginning of the year. I bought a Titleist hybrid 14 and love it. Would do it again.

This is what I ended up ordering. Found a deal on a new one I couldn’t pass up. Can’t wait till it arrives!

I ended up with a Titleist Hybrid 5 after going through the same dilemma. Pocket layout could be better, but it fits the bill nicely (stand, cart, and push cart).

In my opinion, the new Ping Hoofer or Hoofer 14 are the best stand bags for cart use. It has a pass through slot on the side where the cart straps go so it doesn't cover up any pockets and it helps hold it in place. I also use mine on my Clickgear 3.5+ and it works great. I also have a Hoofer Lite, but that thing won't stay still on the cart, it always twists around. Works great on the push cart though. All three of those are great for going to the range too.

Got my Hybrid 14 in tonight. I loaded it up like a cart bag. Also set it up for single strap use. Can’t wait to test it out.

Ping Hoofer 14. Its lightweight and durable, even on a cart. I believe they also have a cart strap to pull the strap through behind one of the side pockets.

I just loaded it up last night and it hasn’t left the house yet. So far I can say it was a little stiff getting everything in but I have the pockets stuffed pretty full. I’m sure there will be some break in over time. I’ll post back once I get it out to the range. Maybe tonight.

 

I’m still unsure how I’m gonna arrange the clubs. Seems like woods should be at the top, but I don’t want them facing the back of the bag.

On the Vessel do the dividers go all the way the length of the bag? Any issues with club tangle? I am looking at Vessel too, they seem to be pretty slick bags

I have the 6-way (only 3 dividers), but the 14-way does have 14 individual dividers and a slightly bigger opening. They're very well made and I love the material. It's about as close to waterproof as you can get without actually being waterproof (not seam sealed). If it gets dirty, just take a wet rag and wipe right off.

Sorry, hadn't looked in a while and didn't realize that they've raised their prices significantly. I bought mine ~8 months ago for ~$250 with an embroidered logo.

I've been using an Ogio RTC for a couple months now and It's been the perfect bag to have at range for practice sessions or on my push-cart or a riding cart. Used to carry a lot when I played but had to give it up and go to a cart after shoulder surgery. So far, I haven't found anything about it that displeases me - it does what it was designed for very well.

Titleist Hybrid 5 works great. Put the woods on the stand side and the irons on the handle side, and it works perfect in a cart.

@pollock21 I'm not sure if you have made a final decision on your bag yet but if you havent and are still testing I would check out the TaylorMade Flextech Crossover Stand Bag. I just purchased mine after testing the Titleist offerings and it is a really good bag with a 14 way top

I like that the bags bring little attention to the TM logo it seems. I looked at it in the store today, the 4 way top Flex Tech, nice bag but looks small to me and I currently use a Jones Utility. How are the pockets? I was surprised it didn't have more, nice looking bag though...
