Switch from hybrid stand bag to cart bag?

Recommended Posts

I have an older Titleist hybrid stand bag that is in great shape. Seems to work pretty well on a cart. What are the benefits of a cart bag? I like my stand bag on the range and for cart path only days when I stray far from the cart path.

I’ll switch to a cart bag when I start wearing socks under my sandals.....lol.

But in all seriousness, I like the “option” a stand bag give me, for the reasons you mentioned above exactly. Cart bags might have more pockets, etc, but I don’t load my bag up that much.

My sentiments exactly. I’ve got a Titleist Hybrid 14 and it has more than adequate storage, plus I’ve never liked loading clubs backwards in the bag for cart riding. I know I’m now in the minority but woods go in the back. It has a strap tunnel for the riding cart strap and it also rides ok on my Speed Cart.

I will stick with my hybrid. I realized a cart bag probably won't fit in my club glove travel bag. I don't want to buy a new travel bag too. ?

I prefer a cart bag to my old 14-way stand bag. I barely walk anymore and the extra storage is great for things like your rain jacket/pants, an umbrella, a bottle of jameson, a 6-pack of beer, etc... If I do decide to walk more i'd rather invest in a good push cart rather than buy another stand bag. I do keep my stand bag around for times when I go to the range but I hardly ever use all my clubs in one session nowadays. It's mostly just my wedges, putter, and a mid or long iron. I might be better off just grabbing the clubs i need or buying a Sunday bag

I agree about the walking part. But, the combination of a cart bag and push cart provides the best of both worlds. Plenty of storage (which comes in very handy during late-fall through early-spring rounds where temperatures can change by 10-15 degrees during a round), and less soreness on my old muscles from carrying a bag.

There are NO advantages to a cart bag over a true hybrid bag. None. Take a look at either the Bagboy Chiller or the C130 hybrid bags, and forget all the stuff that doesn't have a stand. IMO, I don't think any of the Titleist bags are really hybrids like those two; they are just slightly larger carry bags with one extra pocket. That's no disrespect to the Titleist bags, but they are MUCH smaller than a true hybrid bag, no matter what Titleist calls them.

The hybrid bags are almost as big, if not completely so, as the cart bags, and have legs. The hybrid bags work great on a push cart, etc., and don't fall over in the parking lot or at the range. I'd love to sell you the C130 cart bag in my hall closet; it's only used now to hold extra clubs and shafts.

IMO, the hybrid bags are the best of both worlds. Cart bags tend to have the strap on the opposite side so it doesn't interfere with accessing pockets while its on the cart and usually has way more storage space than a typical stand bag. Some may consider these attributes to be definite advantages. However, they are usually heavier than a stand bag or hybrid bag, which I don't care for if I'm walking and using a push cart.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
