Tell Me About Your i210 irons...

Mizuno and Ping are polar opposites on the sole configuration. Not saying you can't make either work for you but they are very different. Pings are higher bounce with blunted leading edges. Very easy to not bottom out. Mizunos are super low bounce with sharp leading edges. The JPX series does have beveled edges but they still don't play like Pings. I would be playing Mizuno now but experiment after experiment made me finally realize they just do not work for my swing.

Has anyone tried the i210 in retro specs? I'm strongly considering doing that for a second set of irons. In speaking with Ping, they felt no need for a bounce or back grind to compensate for the increased bounce.

So, anyone with experience or thoughts?

Might be late to this thread, but I had a similar experienced. Tried them, loved them. Still love them. Hanging onto them until Ping releases something newer, hopefully with less offset in the long irons. Minor gripe.

I tried my i210's that way last year and didn't love it. It didn't necessarily accomplish what I wanted it to accomplish in filling the correct gaps and the clubs had plenty of bounce before they were bent weak. In fact when I updated to the iBlades I went the exact opposite way and power spec'd everything but the PW and had a much easier time getting my gaps corrected and hitting the launch window and spin I was looking for.

Interesting, I was thinking Retro specs as well but you have me re-thinking it. I generally play 52/56/60 wedges and like my PW in the 47-48 range, it would be an adjustment to go with the standard lofts but might be better than dealing with extra bounce I dont want/need. Hmmm

I was generally just trying to visually eliminate some offset, and thought gapping would be okay. Appreciate the reply

I have my set in retro spec and love them so far. I’ve never really considered ping. Over the last few years I’ve played 3 sets of mizunos, 718 ap2 , and ap3. I had an iron fitting last year and the fitter recommended I try the I210. I tend to be a low launch and low spin player the i210 in retro spec definitely helps me hit it higher with more spin. I’ve been very happy with them so far!
