Monthly Motivation: March

Recommended Posts

Not sure what their plans are for US open qualifying, as there are a ton of spots allocated based on these qualifiers. But I also have a putting mat set up in the living room, but my new putter was supposed to be delivered by my parents this weekend. Unfortunately they are no longer coming which means I will not be receiving the putter yet.

just did 35 rounds in Florida over 10 weeks or so. Steadiest golf of my life with new swing and workout routine. 69-78 (wind). One early round over 80 in horrific winds and very wet conditions. I was not over 75 if winds were normal.

Now I have about a month off

So …. with CV19 … hitting the gym hard in my basement. Both cardio and lifting. Going keto again for a month

Yesterday i dropped a new UST VTS 100 shaft in my 4h and had my fitter re-drop Ping 400 tips on my Blueboard 63 and 73 for my 3 and 5 wood (based on falling in love with my Tour Issue Mitsu 53x flowerband matte blue driver shaft)

Ping Canada .. when they re-open will be flattening my Glides from Red to Orange dot

Debating even doing qualifiers for Am and Mid-Am stuff provincially. The courses are garbage this year in Ontario

This year I think I will crush my record of 110 rounds in a calendar season

I will also be juggling shaft sets in my p790's and Blueprints

  • 2 weeks later...

My current house was suppose to go into renovations for the back yard this year, but due to situations with my career I thankfully put it on hold..

since all the courses are closed.. I’ll renovate the backyard myself using my clubs :)

I've been hitting irons on all sorts of lies and been getting punished(the ground is wet) for fat shots... I love it! It’s real feed back! I was a range rat but the MattS are deceivingly forgiving.. Now, I’m learning to put my move on every lie focused on contact.. It’s really fun!

I’ll practice full shots/ short game- quality of contact on different lies via corona lock down.

I really hope everyone is staying safe and hope the best for everyone during these times.

Was grinding my swing and wanted to share an update:

I’ve always had a issue with my head moving back(away from target) at impact from where it was at address:

red circle is where the head was at address..

BKDCSTN56KH8.jpegmy transition feel is a move with my waist/buttocks and I don’t really focus on the upper body.

Monte posted a picture on IG and the orange dots triggered my mind to realize that my head was drifting back because my upper body was late.

XFYTP6RQITWO.jpeg

I remembered Monte saying the brain can’t separate the timing from the lower body vs upper body in the down swing because it’s too short.

Then came the Nike drill.

As soon as I felt the transition, I bumped my lead shoulder towards the target( like I’m breaking open a locked door with a shoulder bump) and my head was magically in the same place as it was at address.

Q8W8MHSOI8AR.jpegI’m ripping through the ball even more at impact and feel more balanced.

https://youtu.be/n-21slFH39kI also have a time set where I hit off all sorts of lies. When the ball is above my feet I would chunk it. I would play the ball position back more or choke the club, but would still chunk it during play. I’m experimenting with a flatter BS in this situation which is giving me a more shallow downswing and getting solid contact.

Can’t wait to get back on the course when things get back to normal.

Thank you very much, I appreciate It. Its a real compliment coming from a low hcp who competes as yourself.

I’m definitely hoping my hcp drops into the single digits soon, I want to compete in SoCal events in the future and see what I can learn out there.

I’ll definitely keep my progress posted.

Thanks bro- Trying to keep it moving!

Thought I would jump on here as whilst it is April, I imagine for most this month is going to end up being pretty much the same.

All the courses here in the UK are now closed so it has been back garden or indoor practice for any of that can. My putting is looking pretty decent from 6 feet and in. Full swing wise I have been getting out into the garden and getting the chance to hit into the net. I found a great app which I have really been enjoying. It’s called Mirror Vison. I assume you get get on android but I have been using it with my iPad and iPhone. Basically it lets you stream whatever one is recording to the other. So I have set up with my iPhone and a tripod that I have had for recording my swing for a few years now but I then have my iPad in front of me so that I am able to see what everything is doing. I have found it really useful. I think there are others who have mentioned the App on here before now but I thought it would be useful to bring it up again for everyone now reduced to back garden practice.

I had come on looking for one but couldn’t see it, didn’t want to step on your toes! I hope you are all keeping well in amongst all this craziness at the moment.
