Washington State - Courses that are open?

I think you couldn't be more right, I had a buddy who went to Portland today to go play hahaha. Hope our nice weather sticks around or comes back soon! Have you heard anything on courses reopening?

I have not I am over in Bend, and we are playing. We just ordered the new cups that have a "lever" on them, so you take your putter lift the lever and the comes out of the cup. We currently using a modified pool noodle that is smaller than the cup and much more realistic rather than the "raised cups"...

Inslee announced that one of his next steps is to open up more recreation(with social distancing), and this likely includes golf. He’s trying to align with restrictions in California and Oregon, that allow golf. He didn’t name a specific date, but it is likely on or before May 4.

Huge news! I watched the address to the state tonight myself and that was also my take away. Hoping we get a date soon!

That's what I'm hoping. And really, what activity could he be talking about if not golf.... Fishing I suppose.... I do hope they set some rules for golf to limit jackassery which then in turn gets golf shut down all over again.

We should setup a WA COVID19 tournament on The Grint where we all play against each other but dont actually play WITH each other. You know... Social distancing and all.

I like this idea! I saw these really cool contraptions that you put in the cup and use your putter or a club to lift the ball out, even less contamination. Hoping courses will be able to adapt quickly and make up for this loss of revenue. You have to assume not many of them can stomach to be shut much longer.

Totally agree. That is the absolute worst case scenario, just takes one person to abuse it. Let's hope for good news sooner than later!

On a side note, expect some changes. We aren’t allowed to sell liquor and have had the OLCC come out and police us because they got reports that alcohol was being consumed on property. It’s not as much people drinking on the course but the chuckleheads who pull out lawn chairs after their round and sit in the parking lot drinking. As you said, jackassery will get it shut down. All of us need to take a little part in telling the idiots to knock it off

Quick Update - Total rumor mill here, good friend who knows GM of course. Word has it courses to open this week sometime. Nothing confirmed just hearsay, but progress nonetheless! ??

Didn't see anything specifically on driving ranges/carts/flagsticks/cups/rakes...etc.

None of the places I called are open to even take reservations. It's going to be chaos. I was on hold for 15 minutes to talk to a woman who told me the tee sheet wasnt open yet.

 

I'm going to go out on a very short limb and say this is going to be very difficult for a bit.

I got a tee time online, but it's obviously not set up for the two-somes thing as I got a foursome slot. And several tee times were open when i searched, but when I clicked on them it said "another golfer is booking this time" or something so there's a mad rush going on right now. Hopefully it'll mellow out in a few weeks and go back to more or less normal.

It's been a LONG 6 weeks, especially with the good weather we have had. Courses should be dialed in conditions wise which is something to be excited about.

@el_hefty which course did you get a tee time on? Echo Falls, The Classic, and Oakbrook currently has tee sheets open for the 5th.

I don't like the "10. Restrict use of driving range and putting green to those with a tee time within 30 minutes." Since, I tend to range rat with all of the other old guys. Hopefully, that changes soon, and, they allow driving range usage without a tee time.

I'm pretty sure at my private club they aren't going to care if i'm practicing on the range, using the short game area or the putting green.
