Truck Storage

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of getting a truck. For you truck guys, where do you store your clubs? If I store in the bed, then I'll get a liner and a cover. However, I live in TX and worried about the heat but don;t know how different it would be than currently storing in my trunk.

I can certainly take clubs in and out every time but it is a pain with everything else I have to carry - coffee, workout bag, lunch, etc.

I got one of them fancy trucks last time around with 4 doors, back seats fold up and there's a fold out "floor" slide my bag in on top of that. I never leave my clubs in my truck though, when I get home they get unloaded, cleaned, and are ready for the next round. My buddy lays out a big cardboard piece in the box of his truck under the tonneau with a blanket on it and we'll lay the bags on that if were carpooling somewhere, I just put them in the backseat area of my truck.

I've been looking at Ram 1500's with the "Rambox" storage built into the sides of the bed. According to the pictures, they're lockable and can fit a set of clubs. I'd still need to figure out something for my clicgear, but I guess I could just keep that at home or buy an SUV and use a small trailer for hauling when necessary.

I'm about a year out from buying a vehicle (daughter is turns 16 next May and will drive my current car), so I'll be actively shopping in about 6 months.

I live in Texas too and just carry mine to and from my truck every time I go to play. When I do take them, I usually just throw them on the back seat. I know that's not the cool, interesting response you were looking for, but that's what I do. When I used to be working out of town I would take all 14 clubs in a sunday bag and keep them in my toolbox in the bed of my truck so I could head to the course after work each day.

I prefer a Sequoia to a pickup (Tundra on same frame), YMMV

Fits lots in the back but the clubs come in if I don't park inside the garage

I've posted this before

I leave mine in the truck bed for days at a time. Seems like an unexpected chance to play always comes up when I don't have my clubs with me. I have a soft tonneau cover and a rubber mat and lay them sideways right at the back end of the bed with my shoe bag next to the club heads. It fills up the width of the bed nicely in that it's not too tight to put any pressure on any clubs, but there's not enough room for them to slide out when going around corners and whatnot. I've kept clubs almost permanently in trunks, trucks, tool boxes, etc. over the years and can't say I've ever noticed any ill effects. Maybe I'm not good enough to notice or maybe I change clubs too often, who can say?

Hey! I drove a Tundra for years, and used this: https://www.containerstore.com/s/iris-44-gal.-storage-tote-with-wheels/d?productId=11005991&q=iris

It has wheels at one end, so it slides easily in and out of the bed the truck. It's long enough to fit a stand bag laying down, your shoes, couple boxes of balls, etc. It has a locking lid, if you don't have a tonneau cover to keep rain/elements out. It really is the perfect thing for transporting your clubs in the bed of a truck.

And by locking lid, I mean it has little plastic clasps that close at each end holding the cover on. It is rain tight, but not "locking" in the sense of it being secure from someone trying to steal your clubs.

I have had a truck for years and just have a basic tonneau cover and a bed mat, that's where my clubs stay. If I am going somewhere out of town and not playing golf (basically with my wife and kids) I take my clubs out but other than that my clubs are always back there. Before my wife and kids I kept them in the cab and folded up the back seats.

I have a truck, with a hard tonneau and use this in the bed. It's a rugged foam with a soft top. Folds in half. Has a grab handle. I just pull it out, set my clubs and shoes on it and slide it in the truck. I have a spray in bed liner and was always afraid it would tear up or rough up my bag. Actually anything heavy I load in the truck I put on that mat and slide it in and out. Works great.

and yes i leave my clubs in the truck most of the summer. I know it's bad but you never know when a golf game might break out. BRI-TW2X4MAT TrackMat Mechanic Mat | RealTruck

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
