The search for a new hybrid

I am currently hitting a Hogan 2i Cft tour hybrid and am looking to replace it with something similar....

I like to work the ball and this is my 3 wood replacement club. 8 handicap and hit the ball fairly high with a slight fade.

Any advice would be helpful

Older Cally Apex is known as being a smaller hybrid and players club. Sounds like you want a 2H (17-18d). I would not sleep on the Epic either (I game them) as the head is not too big IMHO .

 

2019 Apex added jailbreak, I have not hit it. Some have commented they prefer the older one but to each his own.

 

For new releases, the SIM seems to be a monster. Its in a few tour bags already. I have not hit any since all the demo days have been on hold which I think is what a lot of us have been waiting for. Titleist always has very classic hybrids. New Mavrik you would likely want to look at the Pro series, smallest they make.

Titleist 816/818 H2's can be had for great prices (even up here) and likely fit the look and playability.

I'll toss in Mizuno CLK. If you want something that doesn't default to going left, it's got a flat lie angle and sits neutral. Shaft adapter offers adjustability.

I'm a big fan of the prior gen Apex hybrid and now the current Apex 19 hybrid. They are my most reliable clubs. For 3-wood replacement they make it in 2H which might be right up you alley, OP. And depending on timing they can be had on Callaway Preowned for very affordable prices for nearly new condition.

Another suggestion in addition to the Titleist h1 and h2 is Sub70. Really great hybrids and reasonably priced. I've got one coming today to rotate in for my 5 iron.

I’ll second the Titleist 818 H1/H2. Great hybrid! I just got one and with so much adjustability options you should be able to dial it right in.

The G410 works best for me, but from what you are describing OP, I would look at the new CLK. Adjustable and is a lower launching hybrid vs. the rest. Great look and feel.

I would ditch the hybrid and go with a Cobra One Length Utility 2/3 iron; it’s silly easy to hit, goes just about as far as a “lengthier” hybrid of the same loft, and it’s workable. If you’re dead set on a hybrid though, I recommend the Adams Red 18-degree hybrid.
