soonest for fans is at wgc i memphis ... in late july/early august ... gonna go out on a limb and say there probably won't be a crush of people wanting to stand in hellish heat for a chance to get the virus ...

I personally doubt we see fans at any events in 2020. Just my gut feeling with the recent uptick in reported cases of the virus that shall go unnamed in this forum.

At some point do they just accept that cases are going to occur and for players/athletes/golfers it really doesn't matter?

I think you start seeing players refusing to play if there are loads of fans in attendance. You saw some players take the risk of Zika seriously and skip the Olympics. It also does matter for atheletes, I personally had one patient who was in phenominal shape at 38 a marathon runner in the ICU and on ventilator. They had to be placed in a medically induced coma, they survived but have 60-65% lung function currently, and few other peripheral issues. If you are a professional athlete, do you take that risk? 99/100 are going to be fine, but you can end up with career ending complications.

If you are asking me personally, I take the risk. It is lower than many other risks I take daily. As a golfer I would think your risk of getting struck by lightning while waving metal rods in the wide open out of doors is pretty high compared to most folks.

It’s not just the risk to the players it’s the risk of thousands of fans being exposed to the virus by infected fans then going out into the community.

Sensible idea, no doubt about it. I get the desire to get back to normal. I’d love to be out watching golf or to get to watch a game of football but now is not the time. Plus with all of that, for a TV viewer, the complete lack of baba-booey, get in the hole, etc, etc has been fantastic.

gonna be really difficult to watch golf tournaments with fans again ... for us & the players ... so pleasant to not hear them after every shot yelling their inane crap ...
