Does anyone still game the backstryke?

I know a 18 hcp'er that wins a ton in skins games because he putts the lights out with a backstryke. Got tons of crap when he first got it years back, but no one says anything anymore.

I like an onset putter but those were a little too extreme for me

Funny but I was thinking about this putter last week as Odyssey has brought out a new one. They don't CALL it a Backstryke (God forbid LOL) but they have a Black Stroke Lab #7 that's a Backstryke. I was rolling it in the store and it ain't bad. That said that's what I thought about them originally. Not bad - but I was never consistent enough with them.But there was a Pro just last weekend (or maybe the week before) that was rolling one. Can't remember who it was though but he was a "name". Charles Howell maybe ?

I have two of them the blade and the 2ball Got it free). Played the blade for long time after they came out. Love the insert, that thing put such a good roll on the ball. They are in the closet but I take the blade out every once in a awhile to play. May take it out this afternoon for a quick 9.

Yeah I really like mine, for me it's the sensation of the putt feeling like I'm pushing the ball I think.

Yeah I have the 2 Ball and I feel like it gives me a very stable stroke. The only issue is it's hard to aim because of the shaft angle. I want to add a line to the head to help

(Three years later...)  I still play a Backstryke Blade that my wife bought me for Xmas 2010.  After the first year, I replaced the grip with a SuperStroke Jumbo 5.0 and haven't looked back.  The head cover is a little worse for wear now, but otherwise, the putter is like-new.  These still sell for $80-$120 on line, and I can see why.  If it does misbehave, I give it time out in the closet, and switch to an original Tri-Hot #2 that was a gift from my wife in 2001.  (I love my wife; she's such an enabler and spoils me rotten.  BTW, that's her in my avatar pic.)
