2020 LPGA Rookie of the Year Race

Just a thought, what about points according to finishes.

Win=25pt

Top5= 15pt

6-10= 10pt

11-20= 5pt

21 and over 1pt

Wanna get crazy, feeling confident Missed Cut = -3pt

I feel like the leading money idea can be unfair. If one player had 2 top 5 finishes and missed every cut other than those 2 top 5's, they could possibly beat out someone who made every cut and finished say inside the 11-15 position all year.

Personally I can't justify 2 top 5's and 18 missed cuts being considered ROY.

I like it. maybe just graduate the points a little more within the top 10 or maybe even the top 5. The top 5 might work a little better, 1st get more than 2nd, 2nd more than 3rd ....... all the way to fifth.

This point scheme is similar to Rolex world ranking.  One possibility is to use Rolex point system, that includes field of strength and double points for majors.

Regarding to @Stooch player selection:

1) we get to pick 2 players that start in the top 10

2) we get to pick 3 players from 11-45

3) we get to pick 3 players from 46-90

4) we get to pick 1 rookie

It would be difficult for me personally to pick 3 from 11-45 or 46-90 because I don't know them that well.  How about one each from those two categories.  That way we each have 5 picks, making it easier to administer.

Clearly, this won't be a "Rookie of the Year Race".  We could call it "Race to WRX Player of the Year" or any you guys might suggest.

@Stooch                            @agolf1                  @ChronicSlicer

@MagicClassic407          @BadgerLin                   @Lobby

This is to summarize the proposed 2021 Contest:

1.   The 2020 year-end money list will determine the Top-90 players

2.  Each contestant chooses 5 players

     2 from Top-10

     1 from 11-45

     1 from 46-90

     1 2020 rookie

3.  Each player earns Rolex Ranking points at the end of each tournaments; points will be accumulated throughout the year

4.  Each contestant earns points from all 5 players he or she has chosen

5.  Each contestant will pick his or her players before the start of 2021 season (by January 14, 2021)

Please reply to this thread if any of you has any additional suggestions.  Thanks.

The rookies stumbled to the finish line; none of them finished the year strong.  They're probably tired, mentally.

There're a few highlights over the season, most notably Bianca at KPMG and Drive On Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Even though officially they'll still be rookies in 2021; it's their sophomore year.  Sophomore year can be tougher than rookie year; as both Jennifer Kupcho and Kristin Gillman have found out.

Good luck and we send them off to the 2021 season!

Noh and Lee had an even more solid year, more consistent and better placed than Bianca in a majority of the tournaments...  But yes, the true test is the sophomore slump... Good luck to them all!
