One of my favorite pro golfers is Henrik. When I attend a tournament that he is participating in I will follow him a good bit of the day. I position myself within a few feet of the tee markers and let my senses take in his absolutely gorgeous fast swing with driver or 3 wood. The sounds and sights are incredible being that close to such talent.  Also his fab zany wit is right up my alley.  Nice move to get the kid's ball my Scandinavian brother.

So I was watching the action one morning at the Kemper. I often liked to spend a good bit of time at a particular hole. It's the short downhill par 4. I think I remember it to be 340 yards. I would enjoy both watching the tee shots flying down the hill from the tee box above and be green side to see them come bombing down the hill. Occasionally one of the big hitters could get it to about 15 yards in front of the green. I was at this moment greenside at the rope. Front row seat for viewing a fairly rare occurrence on TOUR. The threesome was just finishing to putt out. I hope most of you caught the Andrew Magee story in the cartoon tweet post I have up this week. The one of the only par 4 Ace on TOUR? Well that might have happened that morning. A tee shot comes skimming across the green right as one of the players had just sent his 20 footer on its' way. I can't remember the players name unfortunately but he says "what the hell? "as he lets his putter fall out of his hands onto the green. Another player in the threesome drops the f bomb next( which you never hear at a TOUR event) . He turns around to look back up the hill to the tee box and loudly asks, "who the f*** was that?" The third player replied " it's Glasson". The player who was taking the putt then adds in "figures that punk. And contnues with "oh Mr. college brat that has to be told all the time to stop cranking his Van Halen wide open at night in the player's hotel just HAD TO hit into us, jeez!"  The ball came to rest just off the green. Glasson got it up and down for birdie. It did not touch a player or a piece of equipment in the threesome and careen into the jar for an Ace like Magee's ,  but it certainly riled up the threesome in front of him for 45 seconds for which I was in the the VIP seats.

 I laughed out loud when the "punk college brat with Van Halen a wailing away "statement was delivered. 

Glasson had major power like Koepka today, but Koepka has a smoother swing.

Billy Glasson who played at Oral Roberts University got his FIRST professional win that week at the Kemper (June 1985)  in ritzy Montgomery County, Maryland.  Dude was jacked. Sometimes I would catch him looking directly at me. Perhaps he was thinking that puny blonde guy over there is kind of a damn mini me. As the docotoro stated I had a resemblance to Mr. Glasson in our golfing circle.

That is Patches the homeless guy who lives in the cardboard house over on Ivy Street. He was a recipient of a recently donated bag of men's threads from the Salvation Army. Patches found inside the bag a fur coat. He was so jazzed he splurged on 3 bottles to break in the pockets of his new fine animal skin.

 

 

The bag of donations did improve Patches appearance some what.
