Alright I have big news. For those of you that want to join in, I have decided to do a PGA TOUR picks contest. Yes why not keep the band together and change sports. Full details coming later tonight. We will be starting this week at Pebble Beach. I just got off the course and need a big dinner. 

Details to follow.

Who can I count on being in this contest? It is limited to the 10 of us only.  

It's going to be pick 2 players weekly.

Points are as follows:

Winner    ----------  10 points

Top 5      ----------    5 points

Made cut ---------     1 point

Missed cut ------      -3 minus three points 

 

MAJOR's = Double Points

 

I will post the field each Monday morning. Picks deadline is 9 pm Eastern Time Wednesday's.

 

We will run the contest until we all decide it's time to end it.

I would like to motion for 3 picks to eliminate a lot of ties by everyone picking the two favorites in every tourney. 
With the third pick you might have more variance from the mean.

Pleased to report another good performance on the course today for commish.  Well I was filled with the excitement and positive vibes from the closure yesterday of our football picks contest as I hit the 1st tee. The NFL games and the thread were really a great distractions from the covid year for many of us. So while I was playing my 5th consecutive round of exceptional ball striking it came to me  I to go on and do what Jerebear suggested. Do a PGA TOUR picks contest. I thought that's just the thing to keep the band together. In keeping the band together we will continue to provide some distraction from the more non enjoyable things in our daily lives. Yes then our thread's competition and great banter would continue. Make it kinda simple and it won't be too much work I figured. I got even more jazzed playing in the 52* sun after knowing I was going to post my idea this evening. Well I shot a 75 and beat the group again. How my streak of 5 consecutive rounds of less than my number play is continuing I don't know. I will of course take it because we all know the end date is probably near. I am on borrowed time. Yet I do believe that perhaps by tying many of us together for weekly entertainment here as I do as commissioner, that might bring me some juicy karma from the golf Gods. We are all golfers from across the country are we not? Back out there tomorrow as it will hit 62* in the upstate of South Carolina. Thanks for getting joining me in our new TOUR Picks competition fellas. The band stays together and gets back on the bus to promote our new album. 

This thread brings a good bit of joy to many of us. That is cool.

Let's be clear.  P3P is blessed.  He knows it, and look no further than some of his more noticeable attributes.  I have a larger than average belly to hold my beer with.  I have a receding chin so when I spill it doesn't drip it runs into my shirt.  I have very little hair so I never have to comb it, or if I ever thought of frosting it, nope.  Can't do it.  My whole life I have been saving money, and frankly, I was just born with these abilities.

 

Many moons ago I asked my wife to marry me.  She thought about some of my attributes and said, "Heck, I have nothing going on that day, why not?"  The next day, I told her, I am going to play Pebble Beach some day, just so you know.  But dang if it isn't expensive so I kept putting it off.  Then I finally bit the bullet and made the arrangements for Jan 20, 2020.  Well, the vid stopped that plan short and now it has been pushed off again.  I do love Monterey Peninsula though, and the response I give, because I am that guy is, "No, we didn't play any muni courses when I was there."  But even then, the itch is there.  It's not much different than a saddle burr on a long ride.  I just tried to pick based on chin size, and I think there is a direct correlation to being good at golf and having a pronounced chin.  I may as well quit practicing because I don't have a chance of ever being good.

 

So I will have to go with a marginal chin team.  Dufner, Chesson Hadley (because with that name he shouldn't have a pronounced chin, but does), and Padraig Harrington because I am using his chipping drill.

 

I did take my marginal chin game on the road, and I will have to edit using my phone for some photos.  I can say the ice plant and the sand dunes are more than I could handle.  #16 from the tips at Cypress was a sacrifice to the Gods before I went Ben Hogan and laid up.  I did announce on the tee I had to try it, but didn't want it to count.  My competitors looking at my physique agreed and said rip it.  It was a windy day on Monterey Peninsula CC when we played and frankly, I got my a** kicked in by the wind, the dunes, and my swing.  Can't wait to get back.

Thanks for asking.  In speaking with family up there they've told me it's been a fairly benign winter as the heavy storms haven't made it that far north.  The last storm brought about 8 inches and they first only around 6 in our area of the Champlain Valley.  Here in North Carolina that amount of snow would be quite bothersome but up north it's just another day.  Do I miss it?  I admit that sometimes I do miss the sight of whiteness blanketing the woods and fields and I even miss shoveling a little bit!  (It's a nice workout).  But I also like the occasional January/February golf and the warmth of the March sun...

Well this is a first. As I am trading the old pigskin and gridiron in for a set of irons and the links. Football all day; Golf every other blue moon. Hanging with you goobers for a little bit longer is just something that I cannot pass up and so I have already accepted my role as resident basement dweller. Thank you Q for setting a good example, coming off that amazing 3-0 performance in Week 1 of the NFL pick' ems, then dropping the rest like the Chiefs receivers in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately Zoltar is under repair after suffering a major thrashing from NCLancer and his gang of ferocious felines. Without my mystic camel coin collecting connoisseur I am bringing the party downstairs.  Who knows I may even go the P3P route and pick a golfer every time despite their slump and awful play. Or better yet the higherG route and see if commish will spot me a fourth golfer from time to time just in case I need to catch up in the standings. Speaking of which, Commish what's your paypal info for you know... just in case. Seriously though, I am looking forward to learning more about the sport I know some but not all about and the Giving Tree like jokes this thread always provides.
