The measuring holes are #2 and #3.

Hole #2 is downhill and players could get a lot of roll outs if they hit the fairways; #3 is uphill and is a better measure of the distance.

Where did you find that tidbit of info?  Was it mentioned in the broadcast?  Unfortunately, I have been following from afar and not able to log on to see the action live.

I think it matters on how the greens are playing, at the end of yesterdays round you could hear the thud  the ball was making when it hit the greens.  If they kept them hard and speed them up, coming in with longer clubs could be hit or miss.  Like you mentioned yesterday, the course needs some more teeth and they even mentioned it on the telecast.  I doubt they can depend on wind and the only way to up the difficulty is to trick out the greens IMO, we'll see if they do it.

What the LPGA should have done today is do away with the "backstop" signage on 18 ... it would have truly made it a spectacular "risk/reward" shot.  The good/great shots deserve looks at eagles, the long shots get punished a little more than they usually do.

they're doing this on purpose with Brooke in the lead... ?  Watch them go back live when Lexi/Nelly get back up haha

LPGA just issued a release that the Golf Channel are experiencing some serious technical issues in getting the signal feed back to Orlando for distribution.

Tough break ... just when we have a heck of a stellar "moving day" and a packed leaderboard ... a virtual "who's who" in women's golf.

Sigh ?  just as I type this, my LPGA leaderboard app updates and the leaderboard is not as stellar as it was earlier ... no offense to the players in contention that are putting together some great rounds.

What a tournament this's turning into!

Brooke and Nelly renewed their battle for supremacy tomorrow, this time at a final group for a major.  It's only fitting the two best ball strikers are dueling it out.

Brooke beat Nelly and Minjee in the final group to win 2019 Lotte; she knows how it's done!

Three different ways to look at the tournament:

  1. Tournament race: Brooke vs. Nelly
  2. Amateur race: Rose Zhang vs. Gabriela Ruffels
  3. Rookies race: Leona Maguire leads Patty Tavatanakit/Yui Kawamoto/Yealimi Noh by 5 shots

Yes ... and of particular significance is that it will be Patty v. Yui tomorrow! ?  I must confess, that was the first thing I checked today, after the round was finished!

It's going to be a fun final round. Nelly's up and down round could have taken her out of it, but she hung in there. Thankfully for her Brooke's putter went cool on her back nine, or she'd have a two or three shot lead.

Not that she was in the mix, but Minjee's even par round sealed it. She simply has to stop with the mistakes in the majors. A bogie or two isn't going to derail one, but four bogies sure will.

It'll be interesting to see how Katherine does. Last week she posted her first top 10 since early 2019, so her record doesn't indicate that she'll grab the trophy. However, as we say with Pernilla, a hot putter is a dangerous thing.

I think Danielle is going to go for broke. At five shots back she's got nothing to lose. By the 10th she'll either be within two shots of the leader, or ten shots back. Lol.

Gonna be a fun day, it can go several ways by the end.  But I think if either/both Nelly and Brooke can shoot a 68 or better it will be between them for the win.  Anything is possible but the chasers would have to shoot something crazy to get it done.  Bad news for the field is that both Brooke and Nelly are pretty lethal when having/sharing the 54 hole lead, both are at or over 75% closing rate.  It's gonna be fun lots of fire power going toe to toe today.

And the amateurs are outplaying the rookies!

We have to take amateur's performance at a pro event with a grain of salt; Michelle Wie finished fourth at ANA in 2004 when she's 14 but has finished better than that only once in all of her career.

When amateurs play a pro event, they've everything to gain and nothing to lose.  Rookies face many other challenges, playing golf is just one of them.

@Stooch

You shouldn't have put that $100 bet on Brooke to win; the picture of a $3,500 payday will twist your mind all day.

Yeah - I can see that now you mention it. Much less responsibility since their income doesn't depend on it and they can play for the "art" of golf rather than the money. It's just that I'm not used to seeing amateurs so high up in the field. Rose and Gaby are pretty exceptional, though.

haha I only put 25 on Brooke to outright win.  But I'm in pretty good shape as long as both Lexi and  Brooke don't collapse, I have lots of action on them.

I got:

both to win the event but I also played on it what is called E/W and for another 25 I get 1/4 the odds if they finish in the top 5

both Lexi and Brooke to finish in the Top 10

and Lexi in a matchup vs Nelly

I don't think Lexi should be left out of the conversation. She loves the course, and her putting looks as good as it has ever been. If she can avoid leaving herself 3 footers, she can easily win this thing.

Be careful, don’t let money blind your mind.

Whatever happens, happens.  I have no control over the outcome.  All my bets were made before round 1 started, I'm locked in.  Also, this is like coffee money in terms of wagering, not this week cause it's week 1 but  you don't wanna see the action I'll have on a Sunday in the NFL around week 4 lol

I'm also curious about what Danielle will do.

Aesthetically, the swings of both Danielle and Lexi are more contrived; not free flowing like Nelly or Brooke.  I wonder whether Danielle has already reached the zenith of here career at Drive On and Marathon consecutive consecutive wins.

Lol. You're brutal. She's sniffing at another top 10, in a major no less, and you're writing her off as a has-been. Few players in the past ten years have put together back to back wins, so the odds of her doing it again are rather slim. I wouldn't classify the wins as "zenith". She's always had the talent, but her head kept getting in the way. Now that she's found some mental toughness, I expect her to win a few more times. That said, there's just so much talent out there that a multi-win season is hard to produce.

Ebbs and flows, Danielle will fine, she's simply isn't as locked in as when she won the 2 events.  Danielle is simply making too many mistakes this week, she has 6 over par holes ( 1 double and 5 bogeys) where as Brooke and Nelly have 3 over par holes  a piece.  Slim margin yes, but it's usually the difference between a top 10 and winning.
