The best player did not win ... the luckiest player did, but having said that, there is a strong argument that the best player on the day was also the luckiest because it is reflected in the score and like it os often said, it's not how you score but rather what you score.

Today kind of reminds me of what either Jack or Arnold said one time about being in a final pairing with each other that they learned that they could not get into such a fierce competition with each other as the other players often passed them by because they were too focused on each other!  Not so sure that happened today, but it was reminiscent.

Biggest regret for Nelly and Brooke, Nelly the short miss on the front 9 for bogey and Brooke not taking her medicine on her 3rd shot on 13th and also missing the short bogey putt too lol

Do you think weather may have been an issue for Nelly; it's hard to believe a fresh Nelly would hit those two tee shots on Hole #18?

 

Anyway, it's over.  Both Nelly and Brooke will be favored to win KPMG in three weeks; the purse is much bigger ($4.3 million vs. $3.1 million.)

Really felt bad for Nelly.. I was rooting for her..

I was nervous for her, because she's not really known for strong finish..

I'm sure it was a factor but all had to deal with it, but where it was fatigue or stress, I saw start to tighten up around the 15th and have a few loose shots.

Happy to see Rose Zhang set the low am record.  Great fortitude to come back.  She is quite impressive.  And what a swing.  She has also become quite a big hitter.

 

And she has really worked hard.  For years, I always saw two people every time I was on the range:  One was Rose Zhang, and then down near the end of range was this anarchist golf instructor...

Yes and no...it seems like they found the grey area like anchoring the putter. She stays there lining her up and as soon as she leaves Brooke puts her putter down.

To win any tournament, I think a little bit of luck is involved. For example, when Rahm won a few weeks ago, he hit a tee shot that went into a hazard, but the trees kicked it out into the fairway. Regardless, Lee was the best player this week.

Honestly, I’d like to see them leave the base of the grandstands open next year. Let those balls go all the way under and into the water. If it’s a good shot it won’t go into the water and will hopefully put an end to the backstopping.

It’s crazy that she did this well and hasn’t started at university yet, wonder if she would opt out. Especially with the uncertainty of college sports in the next year.

Well, this tournament sure has a knack for producing drama. Lol. 

 

Congrats to Miram. She simply never quit. Sure, there was luck involved, but all of the top players had some luck this week. That's golf. Only negative I could see for the week was that leap into the pond. Lol. I gotta disagree with Jerry on this one. No way Miram practiced that in her head for years. ?

 

Oh, Nelly. Judy was spot on. She hits the 18th fairway once in the last two holes and it's likely game over. The rough certainly played a role in the outcome this week. That's going to sting. 

 

Oh, Brooke. You know you can't get cute with a short sided flop over a bunker. Put the ball on the green and give yourself a chance for par, or bogie at worse. 

 

No surprise Lexi was in the hunt again at the ANA. What's surprising is that it was her driver that let her down. She averaged 10 fairways hit in the first three rounds, but only six today. That rough took its toll. 

 

Nice week for Stacy. Looks like Scotland was no fluke. 

 

Major kudos to Rose and Gabriela. Their "match" came down to the last hole. I'd be very surprised to see Rose stick around college for four years. 

 

I think we can safely say that Lydia has her game back. Erase that 74 and she's up there. 

 

Reports of Ariya's "demise" are greatly exaggerated. Nice finish.

I think it makes sense to start college. No telling what the LPGA's schedule will look like next year. There's no Q series this year, so she'd be Monday qualifying with no guarantees of teeing it up.

Well, she’s still in grade 12 so doesn’t need to worry about University for almost a year.  Already committed to Stanford, so she has some great opportunities.  And, seems like a well balanced young lady, to boot.

College is 2021 for her.  Needs to finish high school first...

Gotcha, wasn’t really sure how much college sports will be happening in California. I think they said she’s going to one of the Cali schools. Full disclosure I’ve done zero research
