Global Golf Ebay length Measurement

wireking1001

Recommended Posts

I am looking at some irons on the Global Golf Ebay store and they have the Length listed as 37.5".  The 7 iron in this set measures 37" and the 5 iron measures 38". I am not sure which iron they measure to get the published length. Of course, there is no way to communicate with them to figure out what iron they use to get the measurement.  My hope is that they are measuring the 7 iron and it is .5" over standard length. Does anyone have any experience with buying used and know which iron is measured?

If they don't respond to your questions and it's no where in the listing , I wouldn't assume.  How many times have you messaged them?

6 iron is usually considered the "standard" for iron sets. When you demo clubs, they usually have 6 iron. Lots of sets have serial numbers on just the 6 iron. In this case 37.5" fits the stock 6 iron length. My guess is the set is standard length and they measured the 6 iron.

Anytime I've seen a length quoted it's the 5 irons, not the 6 and the most common "standard" 5 iron length is 38". The rest are generally 1/2 inch shorter/longer.

And you must go to different golf stores than I do. The only demos I see in the stores are 7 irons, not 6.

The confusion and ambiguity is why without confirmation I won't buy that set. In my mind, the 5 iron length is typically quoted and historically has been at 38" as standard.  Also, in all the shops in my area the 7 iron is the typical demo club.

I don't blame you one bit. I wouldn't buy the set without confirmation either.

And because they don't answer messages on eBay, I'd just move on.

So how did you send them messages - did their website work for you (It didn't for me) ?

Hello,
The length is for the 6 iron.
Thank you

When I tried to message them I got the "This member is not accepting any messages".

How did you get the message through on eBay ?

They use the 6 iron as the measurement if I remember right.  I’ve asked them in the past, and I’m 99% sure that was the answer for them.

I just bought a set from Global on ebay two weeks back.  All the clubs we're still in plastic wrap except the 7 iron which had been hit maybe twice on a mat in a store.

That being said I took the irons to be re-shafted and have the loft and lies checked.  Shaft replacement was no problem but the loft and lies were TERRIBLE.    Highly advise getting irons loft and lied immediately after your purchase.   I had an iron 3* flat, two irons 2* upright , some standard etc.  Lofts we're pretty uniform with a few out of wack but nothing like the lies.

I wonder how the "Mizuno uses a process it calls “Grain Flow Forged HD (High Density) to craft the 919 Tour from a single billet of 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel." could result in that lie discrepancy?

Since these were still almost all in wraps, i.e. brand new, isn't it correct that it was most likely Mizuno who is responsible for the poor matching of loft and lie ?

That wouldn't be a "Global" issue,,,,,,,,,,, correct ?

I’m not sure that my set wasn’t a made up set from multiple sets of irons to be honest... that’s why I had them checked in the first place.  Never had to check brand new irons.  Pretty sure these were a mismash of orders that they made into a 3-PW set.  Some clubs had +2 tape wraps , some didn’t .. there was quite a few weird things.

I’m in no way throwing shade at Global. For what I paid for a brand new set of irons with shafts I’m perfectly fine pumping an additional hundred dollars into a reshaft and regrip.   They were a great deal and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.  Just saying do your due diligence and get them checked before you play them.

If that's true and Global didn't disclose it IMO they deserve a little "shade". They must should have known and disclosed.

I have no reason to lie.   With the volume they move through that eBay store front alone I’m sure things like this happen often. They have 10+ sets of jpx 919s for sale, probably pretty easy to mix a set up when your moving hundreds of clubs a month.  I’m not faulting them, stuff happens.  I now have a pristine set of 919s with brand new project x shafts and new grips for under 750 dollars.   No room to complain.

I wasn't inferring you might be lying, or mistaken. Sorry if you thought I was.

And you're not "faulting them", I am.

I don't care how many sets they get they have to keep them SETS together. No excuse for mixing and matching. None. That's ridiculous.
