Hi all,

Was wondering which Tensei AV Raw shaft would compare most favourably to Ventus Blue Velocore?

I currently have the Ventus blue in my driver and love it but wanted to try the AV Raw but was not sure which profile (if any) would be closest to it?

Thanks in advance!!

Most likely the blue tx would be the closest.

I can tell you i had the Velocore in a Cobra and now have the Raw in a SIM. Note sure how much of it is the head but the Raw feels much better. Ball flight has been better as well although i did go up to a TX. It’s feels way smooother than any other x i have ever played

The only comparable shaft to the Ventus Blue Velocore would be the AV Raw Blue as mentioned, but only the TX flex as the other flexes have a difference design and cheaper materials, having more incommon with the non-Velocore Ventus shafts.

In addition to better feel, can you please comment on the flight and dispersion of the Raw Blue TX vs Velocore Blue? Did you tip either? Thanks!!

Haven’t seen any quantitative profile measurements, but if the AV Blue TX is  similar to the previous Pro Blue in TX, then the Ventus Blue would be noticeably stiffer from mid to tip.

Question, I have a tensei av raw orange 75tx in my sim currently. I hit it okay, but I've always wanted to try a ventus. If any of you have played the av raw orange and tested the ventus line which one did you like most? I'm looking for a little more feel, I have no opportunity to test where I live. So I'm collecting info from my fellow WRX'ers and make my best guess that way lol. 🤣

I can tell you from personal experience that the AV Raw Blue feels better than the Ventus Blue however, the VB was more accurate for me.  I have the VB as my back up shaft in my 3 metal and have tested the AV Raw Blue extensively indoors on trackman.

I prefer the Ventus line myself.  Don't get me wrong, the AV raw line is good, but I saw a little better dispersion and slightly better ball speed numbers with the Ventus Black and Blue.

Yeah I was originally gonna get a ventus but I didn't. Where I live I buy blind and hope haha. I'm thinking blue because I have a smooth transition but perhaps black because I also swing 122 to 124 with the driver.

It really depends.  Both the Blue and Black are on the lower side of spin.  I found the black to be more stable for me with a flatter ball flight.  If you like the AV raw orange in your current set up, then the Ventus Blue would fit would fit that profile.  If you don't mind a little lower launch then go with black.

Awesome thanks, sounds like the black for me, im always looking for a lower flight. Had the sim max set at 7 degrees and it still went too high, got a regular Sim and set it to lower and i still hit it pretty high. Working on my swing so my spin isn't terrible, it's probably my AOA.  Thanks for the help! When I get one I'll come back in to share my experience 👊🏽

At your ss you should be in the 8-12* launch window.  For me, I like mine at 10-12*, no higher than that.  My ss is 118 for reference.

Someday I'll get to hit on a real monitor, not one on here on island where I live. Closest thing is my buddy has a voice caddy sc300, not sure how accurate that is. It has me at 126 chs most swings but I assume it reads higher so 122 is more likely.  Next trip stateside I'm definitely getting on a trackman or gc quad.

Not an attempt to derail this train of thought but don't sleep on the Ventus Red. While I have bagged a Ventus Black 6X for the past year or so, I am always tinkering with shafts and heads, looking for that one combo that's "IT". In my testing with all three colors at 6X and a TSi3 8* playing @ 46.0" and D3.5, the Black tipped .5 was the Low Launch/Low Spin (13.7/2170). The Blue tipped .5 (14.8/2310) and the Red tipped .5 was 14.9/2390. So after watching and reading about the Ventus "Purple" I tipped the Red 1.75" and installed an extension to get it to play at 45.0" and D3. The results were impressive and damned near perfect (for my 110 CHS) at 14.4/2200.

If you find the Black to feel just a little too stout, in my testing the Red is the next one to try because you still have the handle stiffness and can trim the tip stiffness to meet your needs. I personally do not care for the Blue because of it's difference in feel compared to the other two directly attributable to the softer handle. While it works and works really well, I just seem to lose a shot to the left on occasion while I don't with the other two.

Again, not to derail or dissuade you from your original intention but simply offering my findings while giving the Red some props. It is not your typical "red" profile and offers more "tunability" than just about any shaft, ever.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

Listen to this ^. Red is not a slouch.  Better than blue by a mile and smoother than black in my eyes.

What makes it better than blue by a mile?  Buying one of the two today for a g410, replacing Tensei orange AV raw.

For ME ( my opinion ) feel and flight.  I’m not a moon ball hitter with driver  naturally.  The black is low. The blue is ok as a mid flight. But the red gives me 13-14 degrees launch and Keeps the revs down ( im high spin ) so overall it beats the pants off the blue for ME.  The blue is ok on firm fast turf. It will roll out for days.  But if it’s wet. The red is much longer. Carry. Plus to me the red just feels great. Loads and unloads like a KK xts .

Edit - if you’re a moon ball hitter - black or blue.

I have a mid flight with the Tensei av Orange but I struggle with high spin and loosing distance, 2800rpm.  My launch with the raw orange is 12-13, ss ranging 103-108.

Id at least try it. If you have access to demo.  Honestly I saw same spin numbers with red and blue.  Jjst more launch with red.  You can tip it as said above and bring flight down a hair.  If needed.    To me the orange was lower launching when I had one in the 410 LST.  The red isn’t a ballooning shaft by any means.  And not a noodle.  It’s just not a board .

And from what I see if the red didn’t work. They sell within minutes of being listed.  Or I’d bet money you could swap it for a blue.  At the end of the day it depends on what you’re after.  I wanted launch without adding spin.  I owned the blue for a week or so.  And the black.  The black was low low.  The blue I had to work hard to launch her. But I don’t hit up on the driver 2-3 like some.   The red launched easy  without ballooning.

or go the other route. Buy the blue.  You’ll also have no issue unloading it.  Sorry for the ramble.  Without testing it’s just hard to know.

I appreciate the response.  I have no place to test premium shafts so I'm going to go with the red to start.  I tend to hit it lower more than I ever balloon the raw orange. Did you see spin reduction between ventus Red and Tensei orange?  Thanks again.

Yep. I did.  They are similar.  But I wasn’t in the raw. It was the pro ( 3rd version )  as I understand it the raw is a bit smoother snd higher spin than the pro.

I have the Blue 6x in my driver and AV Raw Blue 7TX in my 3 wood. 3 wood is primarily a tee club for me. I'd say flight-wise they're pretty similar, mid flight, which is what I like but I will say the Ventus feels a fair bit smoother for me.

In a recent driver fitting at a titleist demo day I got fit into a ventus blue 6x. Not being the biggest fan of the upcharge I tried anything possible to get comparable results. The AV Raw Blue was definitely second to the ventus for me, however the dispersion I had with the ventus was so much better. Gladly could have gamed either shaft but I decided to purchase the ventus just because of the dispersion. In terms of feel they both felt very nice to me but mentally knowing I had better dispersion with the ventus I was able to swing it much more confidently.

I hated the Ventus blue 6x.  Felt like a rubber band and i don’t really swing that hard.  Tensei raw blue tx suited me way better.

Had both the Ventus Blue Velocore 6X and Tensei AV Raw 65 TX both in at 45.25".  Played both off tee with extremely reliable power cut, but the Velocore cut a bit too much. Had easier time finding the center of the face with the AV Raw and could control it better. Completely understand the love for the Velocore, but the Tensei series and I get along very well. Very happy with the AV Raw White/G425 combo right now.

Came back in to say I've gone from Tensei Av Raw orange 75tx (44") to Ventus Black 6x (45"). I left the lead tape on the head that I added to for the shorter length. I don't know why I didn't just get the Ventus Black a loooong time ago. Feel is way better than the orange for me, nice feel of loading and buttery impact feel. Also for some reason I'm finding the middle of the face way more often. I'm playing a tournament this weekend and ill get some on course testing but initial testing on the range is extremely promising! In hindsight I probably didn't have the Av orange set up correctly OR I just don't get along with counterblance shafts.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
