Graphite Design Tour AD DI-X

I bought a Graphite Design Tour AD DI-7x for my 3 wood. (TS2).. and WOOWOWOWOWOWOWOW...

So much better than the stock Tensei Blue AV...

 

Hits mid flight bombs! And so stable!

 

Since this shaft fits me well, will Tour AD DI-6x be a good fit for my driver?

Also thinking of Tour AD DI-8x for my 5 wood.

 

I can't demo the shafts so any input will be appreciated.

Fwiw, I had the di in my hybrid and fairway but liked a little firmer feel in the driver so I went with the ad tp. With that said, a lot of the guys I play with use the di and are very happy with it.

I’ve played Addi in my 3 wood for 4/5 years now.  And played it in a driving iron or hybrid for last 3.   But. I never got along with it in driver.  Just feels different.  So don’t be shocked if it doesn’t. But maybe it will. You’ll have to run for yourself.

Tour ad shafts get stiffer with heavier weights.  6x will be slightly less stiff, and 8x will be slightly more than the 7.

How does ad tp compare to ad di for driver shaft? Does it launch slightly lower? How about feel?  Thanks.

Would Fujikura Ventus Blue be a better choice for the driver those who have tried?

The tp is slightly lower launch and spin for me with a firmer feel in the hands. I’ve since switch to a Ventus black 6x in the driver and a Ventus blue 8x in the fairway. They are amazingly consistent. Either the velocore is the real deal or the profile just fits me. I still have the tour ad di in the hybrid and utility iron.

TP6x in driver felt like a stable Di and I could swing hard or easy and still maintain control and manage spin. For reference my Driver is 110-115 so slow for a WRXer 😅. My bad move is over the top and a bit rushed on the transition. On bad driver swings the DI was a disaster. The TP on bad swings led to a push fade - much more playable. When I'm not swinging well, I aim left and hit a consistent cut. With fairway woods, not sure I've ever hit a better shaft than a Di7x. I'm currently playing a TP7x in a 3 wood and I don't like it nearly as much as the Di7x. There's a reason so many people are still playing Di's in their fairway woods on tour. If you like smooth feel, you should try Accra TZ6 as well. I have not had the chance to try Ventus Blue or Black. That's next on my list to compare to the TP.

The DI-7x was my gamer for over 7 years.  Wasn't the straightest but it was the longest shaft for the time for me.  I hated it when I tested the 8x in fairway metal.  Dispersion sucked and spin wasn't optimal.  Go figure.  I would recommend the TP over the DI for driver.  Slightly stiffer in the tip and more stable.  Dispersion overall was tighter for me when I had the chance to test it earlier this year.

Ventus black had the tightest dispersion for me with optimal spin numbers.  Blue could get a little loose when I really went after it.  You can't really go wrong either.  After gaming both DI and Ventus, I have to give the nod to the Ventus.  So much smoother feeling and straighter off the tee.

Because they all get stiffer as you go up in weight it’s pretty rare to fit into the same model shaft for all your woods unless you play the same weight.  This is also why they make so many similar profiles since they do a great job of varying stiffness and feel but it’s also sucks because the only way to know is to hit them.

I'll 2nd this; I've similarly found great success with the DI 7x in my 3/4wood and 8x in my 5/7wood but have not found similar success in my driver. However, I have had great success with both the TP 6tx in my driver. I also dabbled with the new HD 6tx (tipped an extra 1.0"). I'm a big fan of graphite design's shafts. Good luck!

Thanks for all your comments guys. Ended up going with TP-6x with my driver and DI-8x with my 5 wood.

I think so. I have always loved the DI line.. It has such good feel, launch etc... MY favorite hybrid is my titliest 19 with DI HY 85X... I have always struggled though with the DI in driver and 3 wood. I went to the Ventus Velo Blue in both and they are close to feel as DI but dispersion in Ventus is soooo much better for me...
