Hi everyone, trying to figure out if this is a real Scotty or not. Bought it off eBay but haven't paid yet.

No only that but the seller has some negative feedback after less than 100 transactions

Fake grips are all to common.  Sometimes guys sell them after buying them on ebay, not even realizing they were fake.  That and slow shipping.  Nothing to the matter of selling fake Scottys or other expensive equipment.

 

If you won the auction, you should pay.  any concern should have been addressed before winning the auction in my opinion.

Oh yeah totally, but would you buy a scotty if you werent sure its real off a seller with negative feedback after only being on Ebay for 3 months? i know i wouldnt

Valid point.  

 

The fake grips on ebay are out of hand.  Search for Iomic grips and you may be lucky to find 1 authentic listing.  Ebay has really ignored counterfeit concerns all together.

Looks real. Ive seen fake versions of these and its pretty obvious on the first glance thats its not genuine.

 

Having said this, that price isnt even all that great at $340 plus shipping not to mention sales tax now on Ebay. Ive seen these pop up here for far less than that at a better condition.

 

I wouldnt pay more than $250 for that putter with fake grip, and I think most experienced BST members would agree.

Other than being overpriced, it looks good. Grips are personal so I disregard as I cut them off and install my own anyway.

Appreciate all the feedback guys. I bought it because I researched it all night and was 99% sure it was real just wanted some reassurance. And the price may be a little high but it's listed as brand new so I guess I didn't think it was that bad. Ohh well, I'm still happy I'm finally getting a Scotty after so many years!!!

I actually think the grip is real, it has all the circles inside the C and O on the grip. I heard this is a pretty definitive way of knowing it's a real grip. That being said I may swap it anyways lol

Enjoy.  If you find it too soft, you might consider the 2020 model.  It doesn't have the insert and will feel a little bit firmer.  You should be able to find one in good shape for the same price.

Sorry, i wasn't talking about the grip on the putter.  I was talking about the grips he sold that got him a negative review.  It was a set of grips the buyer said were fake.

Good to know! I'll have to wait and see I guess, might just have to add to the collection right away 😂
