What driver and fairways do you play and what are the lie angles? Old irons are easy to find but old metal woods are hard to find and I don’t stack up to today’s equipment?

Well, I don't play anymore. Haven't been well enough to hit a proper golf course for three years now. I have a load of old persimmons though. I don't measure lie angles with my woods, but they're all a damn sight flatter than modern metals.

https://www.banggolf.com/prodgroup.asp?id=W320 54 degree lie angle. Look at the spring face fairway woods too. 55.5 degree lie.

I played a Bang Storm for 4 years ('07-11) for this very reason. After busting a few US manufactured drivers I switched to JBeam (Japanese forged). I can safely get them to 54* and a little less, depending on the model.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

One thing that doesn't make any sense is having a 5 iron and driver the same lie angle. The longer the club the flatter the lie should be. I have yet to see an explanation marketing drivers near or at a 60 degree lie. When Tiger Woods was playing steel and his Titleist driver, he on average was just as long but way more accurate back then. Then the chase for distance started.

Latest update from bio mechanical researcher on the Bruce Lee One inch punch and applying it too the golf swing.

Your tip to consider the one inch punch as possibly relevant to the golf swing has been productive. The principles of punch mechanics can serve as the foundation for an intelligent design golf swing that is within the physical capacity of adult and older golfers. This is now a work in progress with theory defined and preliminary on-the-tee testing providing confirmation.

I vaguely remember that. Managing when you spook the shaft is very relevant to hookers becoming faders.

If you think it’s all a piece of cake why are you here? I’m sure you realise it’s not that straight forward. You can make the clubhead and hands move first using the feet if you really want to. You’ve borrowed TGM terminology so you’d know it can be hands controlled pivot or pivot controlled hands.

I'm barely here anymore as I've grown tired of determined ignorance and I didn't say it was ALL a piece of a cake.  It is straight forward on the correct path, educate your hands, train pivot, alignments matter.  LEAD WITH THE BOTH HANDS FIRST, ARMS & PIVOT JUST BEHIND.  The mind body coordination is evolutionary(hand controlled pivot), don't fight it.  Add the physics of the downswing and you can't believe your eyes.  Spine mobility is a huge deal.  -- OR --  Follow the donkeys and pundits, hip spinning, goat humping & harpooning.  Some of them pull of miracles with enormous amounts of talent and naive ideas, the others............not so much.

It depends on the brand and where you have the setting adjusted but most in 'neutral' are 58 or more.

Unfortunately, many stock drivers are set up too upright with the idea of 'helping' slicers.  But keep in mind, that due to longer graphite shafts, and clubhead Cg further away from the shaft axis, drivers will have a lot more shaft droop than irons, and flatter dynamic lie in comparison to static lie.  This is why dynamic lie angle measurements from CG quad or TM4 is valuable.  Years ago, I had the Ping WRX department build me a TiSi tec driver 5 degrees flat.  Some of the manufacturers have 'tour' sleeves now which can go flatter than stock.

How to penetrate the thick skull of mediocrity?  Anybody still read books?  Read this one again, 'The 4 disciplines of execution.'

Next, consider this statement by Jack Nicklaus, "you cant release too soon if your on plane."  LOL.....rubbish right?  Not if you think like Jack, produce the alignments & inertia, then release.

Ever tried a Nunchuk shaft? I'm considering it.

Now we’re taking a Gerry Hogan turn in here. Can’t be worse than be the ball evolutionary hands controlled pivot.

I was curious because on my thread of using a steel shaft in my driver, someone mentioned the nunchuk. It's heavier and minimizes toe droop.

I get notified when there is a response. Easily, you can do it with your feet, you can do it with your hips, your stomach, your lats, your shoulders, your elbows. You pinch TGM terms but don’t understand the alternatives to hands controlled pivot. You get a much better radius with passive hands and forearms than active. Pretty basic stuff.
As for me not having a clue, I’ve posted my swing, where’s yours? You talk a big game. Let’s see it. If you think Hogan is simple you don’t understand the man, less his swing.

I think he got a perma ban from there? I have nothing against the guy really. He's clearly trying to help, but damn it gets tiresome.

Come to think of it his philosophy is eerily similar to the hands control pivot I’m debating now. I think it’s a great way to become a short knocker. You are interrupting the chain right in the middle. In terms of the golf swing that is, not saying you’re interrupting the debate!

Monte Sheinblum teaches a hands control the pivot swing and nobody could accuse him of being a short hitter as a 2x World Long Drive Champion. There are many ways to play golf well.
