New P770 9 iron offset

Hi I just received my P770 iron set. They are beautiful. The 9 iron and PW appear to have a lot of offset. Supposed to be offset 1.9 but appears to be more. They are 1 degree flat. Here are a couple pics of 9 iron, The PW looks same.

Is it just me or are they offset more than 1.9? The 5-8 iron have way less offset than the 9 and PW.

Offset should increase slightly as shown below

The only thing I can think of is they changed loft instead of lie which would increase offset slightly

Unfortunately TM did a really bad job of offset blending on these and they look more offset than the numbers would suggest. I wanted to play a 4 and 5 bent weak to combo with MB but even then they didn’t look right. The short irons also had a ton of visual offset.

Get them spec checked and report back here. I've played about 12-15 rounds with my p770s and have yet to get them checked. But sometimes I do feel like some of my swing weights feel light. I've heard others complain about this as well. I will try to take them to the shop this weekend. Makes you wonder if sales were so high that some detail was lacking in the club building.

here is a few more pics with the 8 iron on the Bottom(left), 9 iron on top(right ).  It may not look like much but looks odd over the ball especially when the 5-8 have less offset and 9 has more.....

In that comparison picture, the 8 iron definitely has less offset than the 9. I will check mine tonight when I get home, but I know for a fact that none of my clubs look like your 9 iron. To me it looks like they bent your 9 iron stronger which increased your offset.

IMO TM did a horrible job hiding the offset in P790 and P770. I mention both as offset spec is nearly identical between the two sets. 
 

I’ve owned, in order:  i200, i500, Gen3 T, P790, P770.  So I keep a spreadsheet of these specs for comparison. 

 

You might be surprised to know the i200 has less offset than P770 in 7-GW. All the clubs I’ve mentioned have close to same offset in 4/5 irons (with i200 having most) then they all start reducing drastically at 6/7 irons - except TM. Add in the poor job TM does in hiding it and it’s annoying. The P770 should have modeled the Gen 3 T offset. 
 

best thing I can tell you is to pay conscious attention at squaring the face at address. IMO it’s far worse visually in P790. I couldn’t stop hooking those because my mind couldn’t get over what I perceived to be a massive amount of offset (eventhough I know there isn’t).

Can you post a pic of your 8 and 9 iron so that I can show the pro shop what it should look like. I want it fixed or sent back. These are brand new and have not hit a ball yet. I will be hooking the sh!t out of it if it stays this way

Also game 770s and my short irons (1-2* strong) don’t look anything like that.. would definitely send them back

Will taylormade take them back? It took almost 3 months to get them, now this.

Can some post a pic of their p770 9 iron? I need a comparison.

Could it be because the shaft is leaning so far forward in the pics?

I bent my set two weak throughout and they look solid for what they are.

You need to have them spec'd. My 770's don't look anything like your offset.

Yah get them specd and report back. Honestly photos are hard to tell with the angles. I honestly have a hard time noticing on these pics.
