Whoa, I missed all the posts from the guys that hated the ZX7 AW, Lol.

 

At the end of the day you have to use what works best for you…no one reasonable on here will be offended.

 

I really liked the ZX7 AW, but sold it along with the rest of my ZX5/ZX7 combo set, and am now in a set of ‘21 P790’s.

 

Really loving the P790’s so far, and the additional forgiveness and different turf interaction have been awesome for me so far. I ordered a P790 AW, so we’ll see how it compares to the ZX7 AW.

how did u mange to get to attack wedges, one for zx7 and one for zx5? wedge ho? Which one u like better?

Better? All relative and could write a novel. Like most, not a usual fan of the set AWs. However through some deal or purchase, ended up with he zx7 AW. Thought, the hell snd took it to a range session. Proceeded to put about 5 balls within 5 feet of the flag. Crazy for first session. Few others afterwards confirmed it just worked. 

 

For me, playing less and sucking more... Found a set of ZX5s with MMTs and figured let me see what these are about and for where im at, these are what I need for now. Figured the AW zx7 was so good I'll try the zx5 aw.. Had every plan to order a cbx zipcore 50 but nope.. Equally good. 

 

So I have a zxu 4, zx5 - 7 then 8-aw zx7 with full face cbx wdedges and another set of zx5 8-aw with cbx zipcores wedges

 

Like others, there is a change of feel comparing the zx7 pw to the AW, but it doesn't bother me.

u sound like u are struggling, u ok? So if im going to order a set of zx5, which attack wedge should i get or doesnt it matter? How do u like the MMT

Yes, definitely a difference in sole widths. If you're sensitive to that, chose what works best for your swing. Otherwise both are very playable.

Yeah, really liked the ZX7 AW, but decided to get irons with more forgiveness than the ZX7 6-PW. Unfortunately my OCD just wouldn’t allow me to keep the ZX7 AW with P790 irons and MG3 56 and 60 wedges with it, so it had to go.

trust me man i totally get it. I sold my irons and currently have nothing. I think i might just get a full set of zx5 so i dont have to worry about the forgiveness of the zx7. But would consider a zx7 attack wedge

Yeah, that sucks. I went through that last year when I sold my ‘17 P770’s and was waiting for my ZX7 order.

After waiting for about 8-10 weeks and just using a ‘17 P790 7-iron as the only iron in my bag for that time, I ended up canceling my order and buying a used set of Z785’s because I couldn’t take it anymore.

 

Definitely makes it very tough to wait for an order delivery if you don’t have a backup set to fill in temporarily.

If you get get he zx5 for forgiveness, you may as well just get the matching AW or go with the cbx zipcores

good point and definitely a good idea. I currently have the zipcores and they are just awesome. I believe the zx5 gap wedge is 50 degrees, so then the zipcores would be good at 54 and 58 for gapping issues

Know this thread is old but is the mk ii AW updated / any better? Was planning on getting the original zx7 aw to match my set up until reading this thread, wonder if there are improvements in new model that help gapping.

Haven't seen the MK II version. but I just recently gave up on my ZX7 GW, had it about a year.  I had it with a recoil 95 F4 to match my irons, and it was just not that consistent, overall couldn't hit it on average much more than 105ish (I can hit my RTX Zipcore 54 about 100+), hit it real high and at times with a lot of spin. But sometimes it went more, it was a bit of a guessing game.  It also felt very light with the recoil whereas I don't get that sense with my ZX7 irons.

 

Anyway, went and got a RTX Zipcore 50 and put a Modus 105 wedge shaft in it, definitely a bit longer, lower flight and more consistent spin.  Play the DG spinner shafts in my SW and LW.   Maybe with a different shaft the ZX7 GW would have worked better for me, I love the V soles of the irons.
