Nikon Coolshot Pro II - What's really new?

I just ordered the new Nikon Coolshot Pro II directly from Nikon.

What is the difference from the Coolshot Pro? Only difference I see is that it works better in the fog and the original does not?

Anyone know?

Unfortunately my older Coolshot 80VR is still working fine after 4+ years so I never got a chance to check out the Pro version. Guess they might be up to Pro IV or Pro V by the time my dies and I get an excuse to upgrade!😡

My Coolshot Pro Stabilized that I got a couple years ago was just stolen over the weekend. Gutted about it. She was my trusty sidekick…left at 5 courses (damn magnet wrap) and always got her back. Not so lucky this time around. With that being said, I just ordered the new Coolshot 50i that they just released alongside the Pro II Stabilized. Saves me $150 and probably just as good without the stabilization.

I would never go back to a non-stabilized rangefinder after using one for the past few years. That sounds like false economy to me.

 I received my Nikon Coolshot pro ii stabilized yesterday and I can confirm that it doesn't have a magnet built in.

Yeah, saw them at Costco too. I just purchased a PP NX9 and do really like it so I can't justify another $299 for this but I definitely would have gone that way if they had them 2 weeks earlier.

I want to know the same thing, I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra $$ for the Gen 2.

I’ve already returned mine after a few rounds. I’m just to used to my Garmin S62 and app. Seemed redundant to me. I just don’t need something else to leave at the course. It’s a nice unit, RFs are  just not for me.

I've seen reviews with complaints about the previous version locking onto "anything" so I'll spend the extra bucks.

 

Had a top of the line Bushnell that failed after 18 months; they fixed the problem, but the same failure reappeared less than a year later but it was past warranty date. They offered 15% off new model but I don't have confidence in their support.

Anything else on this? I was thinking of getting the Pro II but might just settle for the cheaper original at this point if there isn't that much of an incremental improvement

I have the new version but don’t have the target lock chirp enabled. I’ve not seen the first generation Pro Stabilized but I reckon if you can find a good deal on the older version it will serve you just fine in every way except for that beep.

The Pro has an IPX 4 rating where the Pro2 has a IPX 7.

IPX rating is the marking that denotes the level of protection against water, dust, etc.; it also implies the level of weather resistance, water proofing. The higher the number, the better it is. 

 

If you look up an IPX waterproof chart, it'll show the levels.

Late to the party, but thought I would add this.

 

I've been using a Nikon LaserCaddy 500G since 2009. It was a replacement that I got from Nikon at the time, when the Nikon RF I was using started giving me trouble, and they offered a refurb 500G for a good price. I'm still using it today, but since I would like to have a RF with slope, I thought it was time for an upgrade. I found Nikon has the refurb CS Pro II for 360, plus 10% off refurbs and included shipping, I thought I would give it a shot. My last refurb Nikon RF is still working after 13 years, so I'm hoping this lasts for at least half that.

One thing I neglected to mention in my earlier posts on this topic...

 

At the least the Pro Stabilized II (and I believe also the earlier Pro Stabilized) work well while wearing polarized sunglasses. The original 80VR did not. In fact, I sold my perfectly working 80VR specifically so that I could play while using sunglasses with the Pro Stabilized II.
