TaylorMade Spider FCG #1

Made a trip to the local GG tonight. Rolled some nice putters until I picked up a TM Spider FCG #1 and I just couldn't put it down. The only problem is I am currently putting better than ever with my newish White Hot OG 2 ball. I LOVED the way the TM felt, though. I like how all the weight is forward. Nice balance. Hot off the face. The price tag though....yikes.

 

Who has this putter and likes it?

I picked one up a week ago and sold it.   Great putter, best Spider ever IMO.  I just prefer the feel, weight and counterbalance of my Toulon stroke lab.  If I weighted them the same....might find it’s way into the bag.

Never even had a thought about this putter but I rolled some today and it felt great. Can't grasp why it costs soo much!

It's probably because a quarter of the money is going to all the TM staff players' pockets. That's also probably why they can't afford to build milled putters

My guess on the cost is since they say they use "aged copper" in the insert.  So since it is not surlyn or aluminum as their other putters, they probably are charging more for it.

But the TP line is milled just has an insert. TM is all in on inserts for some reason despite having the YES patent when they bought Adams years ago.

I just can't get the reason why they are so onto insert. Also even though TP line is milled, it doesn't have a premium feel like a Scottie or a Toulon Design. I feel like if they willing to mill the putter face with their insert tech, it might be one heck of a putter that will get TM fans buying.

Easier to satisfy all their tour players by swapping out inserts to get the feel they want vs milling I guess and they can swap inserts tournament to tournament if need be. 

 

It would be nice to see them go back to the KiaMa line of milled putters but those days seem long gone.
