Longest Blades, Heel to Toe

I love the look of blades. slim topline, thin sole, minimal offset. The only thing that still scares me is the typically squat blade length. Are there blades out there that are a little longer heel to toe?

The early Hogan Apex blades would probably meet that criteria.  As would the 99 Apex.

 

It's possible the new Ben Hogan Icon blades would fit the bill.  Might be worth taking a look?  I think they even have the clubhead dimensions on their website.

 

I always thought MP-33s had a longer blade length, and possibly the Callaway Apex blades also do.  Not personally familiar with the latter, sorry.

Srixon z-forged look longest to me

New Level 623-M.  I have tested many mbs through out the years and these are longest from heel to toe by far.  Not as punishing as other traditional blades.  FYi, these do launch higher than your typical blades because of the lower COG but you can still work them side to side.

I've found that a longer blade doesn't necessarily equal more forgiving, but it can inspire a little more confidence at address.  I think doctorgolf was correct that the longest current models is Z-Forged.  How far back in time are you willing to go?  There are a lot of options if you aren't looking for something new.

I know the P7TW’s are considered a longer blade heel to toe.  Just not sure by how much.

The iron you are looking for is the Tommy Armour845M Silverback.  They aren't easy to find.  It has a long blade and low center of gravity, otherwise it is a great looking traditional blade.  It's what I started with when I decided to go to  blades and I made the transition from my Taylormade Burner Oversize irons without any trouble.  Tough to find though.

I think you are correct and I also don't think they are very forgiving. I agree that blade length has little to do with forgiveness. It's more about where the weight is positioned and how much.

I actually find them to be pretty darn forgiving for a blade. Most people on here can second that. That being said I haven’t played any other blades but I barely noticed a difference between them and my old CB’s on mishits.

The TW doesn't come in lefty, otherwise I would at least play a set. It just seems like folks prefer the P730 or even the P7MB. I haven't gotten around to TM irons yet, I'm working my way through the little guys first.

 

Haywood MB and the Takomo 101's are due out by the end of the year, I should be ready by then. And I can get BOTH for the price of the TM's, so there is that. My cheap a** would only by TM used anyway.
