Scotland company for tee times only

Recommended Posts

Hey all...

Starting to plan a trip for the end of next May in Scotland and was hoping to work with a company that can handle tee times. Not looking for accommodations, drivers, etc. Just the times! Any help appreciated.

Do you mean a company based in Scotland, or a company that can help with Scotland golf tee times?  If you don't need a company based in Scotland, I have been very happy with Far & Sure.  I'm using them for accommodation and tee times, but they seem very flexible and would likely be able to help with just tee times.

Have to ask - why not just make them? Definitely understand the value of convenience, but if you are already arranging lodging, etc. and know where you want to play, it's just a matter of booking online with most and/or an email or a phone call for questions. Really easy to do. I assume (without knowing and hopefully some that know will jump in) that the companies arranging lodging and/or travel along with tee times make their money with the package aspect of things vs. just making tee times and would think you might pay a good premium just for that if they would do it, but again, may have value for you.

It’s very easy to make the times online yourself. Not to mention it will save you about 20 - 30 percent. Are you a single? Or will you have a group? The only course where a company could help you get a time would be The Old Course, but you will pay a huge premium for that. If you need any help it have some questions, dm me and I can help you.

After reading these replies and poking around a bit, looks like booking on my own is the way to go. It will just be two of us on the trip. And yeah... Old Course was only real concern in terms of not being able to get a time. I'll start just monitoring for when times are available for the weeks we will be there next year!

You need to apply to the Links Trust to book a guaranteed TOC time in advance for 2022. Go to their site, it's explained very well.

See the post above, there's no monitoring for The Old Course.  You get in the selection drawing when it opens up, see what happens in the fall, try the online option a day or two before or line up in the wee hours.  And yes, fully explained on the website.  Some good advice in threads on here about all of that, but the website is the resource you just need to read.  Our first trip materialized because I put in for the lottery in July on a lark, got a positive notification in October and of course we just had to go.

For others courses, depending on the area, may have some insights.  We played Dornoch area, St. Andrews area, Ayrshire and East Lothian in a couple of different trips.  And lots of tips on that in here as well.  It was really easy to book times.  I remember being out in Irvine for a session with Monte and getaway with my wife and taking a call from Crail about my tee time, lol, that was pretty cool.

Can you point to a web page where you can do this? I searched for Links Trust St. Andrews and haven't been successful in where you actually apply to the Links Trust.

Thanks

Just go to the St. Andrews course website and read up on booking the The Old Course. All there. If they haven’t announced the signup period, they will soon.

They usually open up the advanced time lottery in late July and it runs through the end of August. Although I did hear that they may not do the advanced lottery because so many people who had 2021 times moved them to 2022. But really, if there are just two of you there is a VERY good chance you either get a time on a 48hr ballot. If by some chance out of 6 days you don’t, you can always do the walk up.
