Titleist sells Vokey which is a big $$ maker, so it's no surprise they market a belief that moves product.  My 2016 Vokey's work just fine, however may soon be replaced cause of sand wear marks (appearance) on the soles.  There's nothing wrong with the face or grooves.

 

I was on a launch monitor the other day and my current, 8 year old, 588 forged 58° was still hitting 9500rpm on 3/4 shots.  So, I'm inclined to agree with you.  I do believe the grooves influence spin.  I just don't think they wear out nearly as quickly as people think.

Those old big grooves played more of a part in spin than today's grooves, reason they were made illegal.  Its all about marketing.

I would choose one that looks good to u with the right shaft and make sure u have a good grind.  Maybe the grind is most important.

I was fitted for these, having Vega wedges last season. The fitting is essential, and it was eye-opening to say the least. Performance on-course has been really good, with my accuracy being the biggest advantage I’ve gained over my previous wedges. It’s noticeable to even those I play rounds with each weekend, to a point that two have booked fittings. It’s not just marketing, but one also needs a fitter that really knows wedge fittings. Seriously worth a try.

Had old wedges for most of my life, last season started with vokey sm8 50*, Cleveland RTX 54* and Callaway 58*. The Vokey just seem to perform so much more consistently for me and I loved the feel. Eventually demoed a 54* Vokey and fell in love, picked up the 58* to fill out the bag in June. Not sure I consider trying something else for awhile now but I have heard good things about the TM M3s too.

I wasn't clear.  Wasn't talking about 588 specifically, but any wedges with big non-conforming grooves.
