Someone reco me a 4 Iron to swap my Tc-201 with

Got fit at TXG last fall, Miura TC-201, PX 6.5. love the irons, best ball striking ive ever had. I hit the 4 iron decently however, my only qualm is that the 4 iron is THIN, especially sitting next to the 5 and 6 which sometimes, I feel like it reduces how much confidence I have with the club.

 

I do not want to swap the 4 iron for a hybrid, I want to keep an iron in that loft, just slightly larger looking.

Ian from TXG put an Apex Pro 4i in place of his TC-201 4i. Or at least he is experimenting.

Check out Srixon’s ZX utility. It’s chunky but the offset is reduced this generation and I love it!

Could keep it in the family with a CB301 or older CB2008 (bit chunkier top line but still a solid club) and bend a degree weak if needed. New 401? 

 

Otherwise lots of options of actual 4i, or chunkier helpers out there from the usual suspects like the ZX or the new T series Titleist.

Apex Pro, standard Apex or DCB. The first two will be more on the compact side to match what you have and even the DCB is not as chunky as a utility. I picked up a DCB long iron for the same reason as you and I cannot believe how easy it is to hit well. It’s hard to miss it really.

I swapped my XForged CB 4 iron for an XForged UT. Graphite shaft, bigger head, was a game changer. I'm like you, I couldn't stomach putting a 4 hybrid in the bag either so some sort of UT made the most sense, I'm a 3 HCP and I'd say I maybe flushed the CB 4 iron one out of every 4 swings. If you're hitting a 200 yard+ approach into a green having some modicum of confidence and forgiveness is huge.

Hilarious thread! I'm literally looking for the EXACT same thing.  Just sold my TC201 4i on WRX ha ha.

I plan on testing the T200 and T505 next week to fill the 4i slot.  I play MMT125S in the rest of the set, not sure if I should use that for the 4i also.

Apex Pro 4 iron is not a chunky looking iron, but it plays like a chunky iron.  Depending on the shafts you play, you could go a little lighter or graphite to help get that higher softer landing ball flight
