Life is good (good news thread)

The last couple years have been tough, so I thought a good-news thread might lift people's spirits. 

 

For me, I got a promotion last year, have two good kids who have good heads on their shoulders, and we just had our offer accepted for my wife's dream house. 

 

If you have anything great going on in life, please feel free to share.

Nice topic Mych!  We all need to see/share some positive vibes these days and times! I will definitely follow this to see the good things happening while all we see on the news are the negatives!

 

My spot of good fortune: I won one of the Ventus shafts in the drawing (thanks GolfWrx).

We're getting rain in the Mid-Atlantic, it's super humid right now but sweater golf is right around the corner.

 

My wife and I are raising a puppy, and he's an absolute hoot when he's not biting me like a crocodile.

 

I took a couple lessons this year and briefly found my old swing, with hopefully some good golf to come.

 

My little family is healthy, house is newly painted,  and someday  soon we'll be able to find the right house with a yard and a workshop for my degenerate golf hobby.

The house we're buying has small workshop already built and I'm super excited. Just enough room for my workbench, tool/supply cabinet, and a couple bags of spare clubs. The rest of the house belongs to the family, but I finally have my own evil laboratory. 

 

Good luck getting the swing dialed in and congrats on the new pup!

I similarly can't wait for quarter zip/sweater golf with some warm clothes on. Will I regret saying that when it's no longer warm? Only time will tell 🙂

I yearn for the day my workshop has a loft and lie machine. The best part has been getting some of my club buddies involved and doing re-grips and rebuild jobs for beers and company!

Awesome topic! Things I’m grateful for. I’m retired (do a bit of consulting). My house is paid for. Has a big backyard, garage/workshop full of tools. Have a wonderful son with a really good head on his shoulders (still can’t figure out from whom! Haha). Also have a wonderful girlfriend that loves me a lot and would do anything for me. Life is good indeed. 😊

I recently added a 16 year old to mine... I added what you saved 🤪. But I'm not her Uber driver anymore, so life is still good.

Nice catch - I didnt notice that.  Maybe I should have gone to a casino or bought a lottery ticket that day.

Very similar story to the OP.....I have been very conservative spending wise most of my life, finally cashed that in and bought the house we've always wanted, a farmette/acreage west of Montreal. It's basically the house we've always wanted. 

 

I also left my job 2 years ago to go work for an up and coming company, we recently were added to the S&P 500, so work is going great too. Very excited about these things

 

Also I am still awesome at golf, so that is nice.

I see you're in PNW, I know summers aren't a walk in the park in some of your region but in MD we are essentially a tropical climate from late June through early September. 22-year old me thrived in that, my 35-year old self would prefer to walk 18 in long sleeves and not break a sweat.

I live at the very southern end of oregon and it's been brutal this summer. 105 every day, and tons of the time so much smoke you cant even see the green (I still play though, probably shouldn't lol)

 

I'm not saying I'll enjoy deep winter, but I agree completely.. I just want to throw on some long johns and a rain jacket and enjoy a cool breeze at this point

Oh right, I was following the heat dome you guys had. That was killer- I work in the utility sector and we're playing a different game these days when it comes to energy demand. Baltimore used to get at least one blizzard every couple of years and I think in the last two winters the aggregate snowfall is something like 6 inches, most of which was from one weather event. 

 

I'm really fortunate that we spend a lot of time out in western MD, where it's mountainous and you can still get 60 degree nights in the summer. I never thought getaways would be to cooler weather but here we are.

It took me this long to realize that you mentioned you won the Ventus giveaway. Which is an awesome thing, but it just dawned on me it means that I did not similarly win the Ventus giveaway. Oh no

 

At least my new putter gets here today so very exciting and good things incoming. Irons and wedges look like they're gonna take 7-8 weeks unfortunately but I'm holding out hope they'll show up early any day

I know it's not personal "good news", but I was really happy to see Tony Finau win this week. He seems like one of the most down to earth guys on the tour.
