Unable to download video attachments

That top screenshot is a link to the URL for an attachment that can not be downloaded and will not play on my phone, while the bottom screenshot is one that can be both downloaded and viewed. This is clearly also being reflected in the icon counters...




...which show that the first attachment has been downloaded by no one and the second has been downloaded many times, suggesting something is clearly broken here. There is a key attached to the end of the working download link (key=d60a3f6a394beae11e18163ccf745266) that is absent from the nonworking one. I've checked this across several posts and this is consistent; attachments that have been downloaded as indicated by the counter have a key and ones that haven't do not.

i dont know how to fix any of this stuff on your device but i wanted you to know that i was able to both view the embedded video and download and view both of the videos in the links above

Which device(s) are you using? I'm testing this on Mac and PC, Google Chrome on both, and Safari on my phone.

iMac safari and iPhone safari both work fine for me

I've been getting the "can not locate"  response  for many many months using W10 and any browser and also the same response when trying on an Android phone with Google chrome.  I gave up a while ago, having tried many possible solutions.  Most .mov files in threads will not open for me.

I can see and play both videos (Critique Please & Rotation through Impact)

 

MAC OS running Monterey. Updated to Monterey maybe 2-3 weeks ago.

This thread is mainly about the different types of uploaded videos by members - some play and some don't.

It seems that current up to date Safari never seems to have an issue, but Google Chrome seems to, both older and updated. The videos you guys say you can access are literally inaccessible to me to three completely different devices, which suggests there is something browser specific going on.

Has been this way for the fast few months after the somewhat recent big update. The Marshalls must view the site on exclusively Safari because that is the only browser any of these attachments work on whatsoever.

 

To those in charge of the site, I promise you there is no reason to attempt to place blame on users, browsers, extensions, or security settings. These video links are completely broken on every browser other than Safari. I'm not sure what your escalation path is because I'm pretty sure this is just stock forum software of some kind on a web server, but I really think it'd be worth putting in a support ticket with the forum software publisher

The new topic, Jumping at Impact, has a .mov file attached.  When I try to open it, the response is unable to locate the file.  This is a new thread posted just 6 hours ago.  This has been ongoing for many months.

It remains an issue for me, as well. Whether Chrome on my Mac, or Chrome and Edge on my PC.

I first started using Chrome about 12 years ago when Firefox was beginning to slow down. So I tried the new guy (Chrome) and it was lightning fast compared to FF.

 

About 2 years ago Chrome began crawling on my MAC. Takes "forever" to just start up and may or may not run OK for 5 minutes or so and then it's back to crawling. I always have the latest OS from Apple. I've deleted Chrome and re-installed it; nothing works.

 

Doesn't seem to be universal, at least not when I've googled for problems but I just can't get it to work. I've stopped trying.

 

Don't use Safari although I've tried it a time or 2 recently and it's pretty fast. But like most(?), once I pick a browser I pretty much just stay with it.
