I was able to hit this last weedend and It was great. I have a ft-5 and I'm looking at getting burner tour. The setup is great and the toe curve is not noticable and when you hit it the smiles just gets alittle bigger. The one thing that got my attention from the rep was that the tour player hit it and immediately put it in the bag. With all the other releases it took about 3 month to change most of the pros over but the burner tour it will be about 3 weeks. If most of the tour player change immediately just makes you wonder if you should too.

I hit the head the other day and was not impressed. Honestly there wasn't anything about it that left me excited. I hit one from the tour department and it was so so. I tell everyone the same thing. It was like I was hitting a Titleist D2.

They will also have a matching triangle type 3 wood soon. That is coming soon.

Here are some pictures...

I currently have this tour TP in my bag right now with a Fujikura Rombex shaft.

Perfect assesment as far as low spin high trajectory. This is a great driver. I just

switched from a titliest 905. Big difference as far as flight, length and the ability to

to keep it straight. May also just be a great combo with the rombex and this new head.

Interesting .. i've got the 905r in the bag but am very interested in this new burner .. the rombax shaft you got is the new z series?? .. i thought that might be a nice combo .. i've got a 6z08 waiting for this head

I, for one, think it's a very good looking clubhead, and a vast improvement over some of their more recent intro's, like the Burner and CGB Max (a complete travesty)...for a company that used to make some of the best looking woods, this is a nice return to their ways...clean lines, simple sole...if it was rounder and less triangle-y (word?), I would definitely be interested in the TP.

I hit it today. It was a grey demo like the sample I took pics of. Head looks ok. Odd shape. At first you can see a triangle look then after a few minutes the flanges show a rounder look. Not bad at all and I could live with it.

Advertised as a "High Launch Low Spin" driver and as a well respected player in the industry told me... "lives up to is promise". This head throws knuckle balls out there. I would say just like the Callaway Fti LCG. Same flight. Low spin head for sure. You can tell if you hit it well. After 5 to 10 balls the driver looks just like any other TM head.

Have to say I liked it, and cant wait to stick it side by side with the Ft-i LCG and eventually the new Nike "Tour" 5900. I think they will all perform excellent.

Sound was great. Nice pop to it. similar to the TM sound of the past.

Tour Burner: For $399, I get a driver that: (1) costs $100 more than other all-titanium drivers such as HiBore XLS, G10, Hyper X, Z-RW, Sumo 5000; (2) is only 450cc when the competition is at 460; (3) does not have Moveable Weight Technology (MWT); (4) will have little or no resale value when these babies get dumped for half the price 6 months from now; and (5) the website with Taylor Made's own independent tests shows it is only 1 yard longer than its predecessor Burner. I will have to pass and not even bother demo-ing it.

Tour Burner TP: For all the same reasons above, except for (1) where it is $270 more than the Hyper X Tour and XLS Tour, $150 more than the FT-5 Tour, $70 more than the FT-i LCG, and $200 more than the MP-600 - I will pass on the Tour Burner TP as well.

The replace models too fast, give you little resale value once they dump their models, and make you feel stupid for keeping your older one because the newer one is always supposed to be the latest and greatest.

And this is also the company filing the baseless suit against Nickent, so I guess their ethics are dubious.

I'm sorry Taylor Made. While I have had success with the R7 TP and the Burner TP, I guess I am virtually done playing with their products until they change their business model and product life cycles.

Attached are Pics of Tour Burners from two ebay sellers. I cannot vouch if the Sellers are legitmate or not. Both are stated as 9* Tour Issued Tour Burner TP Drivers. Driver B is sold as head only.

Check out a few items:

  • Both do not have a black face (Good thing if this is true - I hate getting my balls stained)
  • The "TP" on Driver A is in Silver or White, the "TP" on Driver B is in Red/Yellow.

I am loving mine! Just picked it up last week and had a chance to go out and play 18 with it this weekend (in the cold, but am I expected to wait for warmer weather in IL?)

I have a Tour, Tour Burner TP version that has the silver TP logo alignment aid (I blacked it out with a Sharpie though), but mine has the black face and a TP graphics Matrix Xcon 7. I have a SQ TP 282 Tour also, and the new Tour Burner has immediately kicked it out of the bag. Longer than the SQ for sure, and a little more forgiving on mishits (especially those towards the heel.) The thing I like most is the feeling that I can go after this one a little more than I can with the SQ. The feel of the head is better too, but that could be to the hot melt in the Burner. The shape took no getting used to after I powdered my first drive.

I am familar with both sellers and they both are legit. I saw these clubs a few weeks ago in the TM van and from what I remember they are like version 3 and 4 of the new club. They have made a number of versions already. My understanding was that the one with the Red/Yellow TP was the most recent version of the club, although they are both later versions than the one with the black face. These are the versions that are actually in play on tour. I think the Red/Yellow may be the higher launching version. I can't wait to see the TP retail so I can afford one.
