Removing stripped weight ?

I put some heat on the screw and attempted to remove the head weight today and the first turn it's stripped it out completely, is there a way I can remove this?

What's stripped?  If it's the threads you should be able to pull that weight straight out.

Sorry,that pic was just before, itsthe torx head to remove it that stripped out so i can't get it out now, thanks

Depending on how bad it is, a stripped torx often turns into a hex. Dremel off the security post and try an Allen key?

That looks like a security torx head, the small dot in the middle prevents a standard torx driver from fully seating. A security bit might get it out. I'd soak it with penetrating oil too. Otherwise you'd have to drill out the screw and use a screw extractor.

Yeah i popped the pin out then it stripped using a torx so now its like a circle and nothing to grab a tool, a screwdriver or torx wont work its stripped, ill try an get pic tmrw

I know hindsight is 20-20 - but next time use heat before trying to remove those non-adjustable TM weights.  They use a type of loktite to keep them from coming loose.

 

It doesn't look as bad as I thought it might - and it looks like you didn't remove the entire security pin.   Might try a real security bit or see if you can get the rest of the pin removed so the non-security bit can go in deeper and get a better grip.

 

However, once it's stripped there are really only two options that come to mind:

1) drill out the entire weight

2) try to turn the torx receptical into a different shape that can be used with another tool.  e.g. maybe use a dremel cut-off wheel to cut a slot that can take a large phillips head screwdriver.   Or grind it into a hex for an allen key.

If the torx insert is completely rounded you can cut a flathead screwdriver slot in the weight with a Dremel then unscrew it.  Obviously the weight will have to be replaced but it will work to get the stripped one out.

I say leave it now. lol... I had this happen to me while back and while I was successful in removing the screw, I ended up putting a slight warp on the crown from all the pressure which rendered the head useless (Im sure it would have been fine but I just couldnt get over it visually). Hindsight after another hindsight, realized I should have called it quits at some point. l

Take the next size up Torx bit and pound it into the hole.  Be sure to heat the weight before trying to remove it next time.

 

Another option: take a sturdy screwdriver and small hammer and spin that star shaped detail on the weight with circumferential strikes to spin the weight CCW.  Again, heat weight first.

Get a 1/4" left handed drill bit, and try drilling it our slowly, with a lot of pressure. The bit will most likely grab and unscrew the weight. If it doesn't, an easy out will then let you get it out.

This would be what I would attempt first. But how to hold the head still whilst smacking the screwdriver might be a challenge, however.

 

Next, I'd try using a cutoff wheel on a Dremel to cut a slot for a regular screwdriver.

Got it! So i tried the screwdriver and would not work. I then took the next size torx bit hammered it in after heating it and got it out! I put lead tape over for now but need to find a new weight i guess

I believe the jetspeed, rbz, 2016 m2 weights are the same.  Easy to find.

Glad you got it.  On further reflection the hammer punch method most likely failed because the head itself was moving, absorbing the energy instead of causing the screw to spin.  In order for that method to work the head would have to be held immobile, which is difficult to do.

Yes very true, i tried several ways to hold it and prop it up but nothing worked good enough to pop it loose, thanks for the help!
