This will be last week, till next Major, that I do the Major standings. Kinda a waste on something static. So have added on far right the Majors point totals. Which will be from now on. Around three weeks before next Major will start posting Standings. 

 

If you want to check  Major standings just remember this page 57.

Okay I ran this by The Commish in Chief and he agreed. Since it is a long season, and since it would make this thread more exciting the following changes are in effect promptly. Yeah I know impressive sentence. 

 

1/  This thread will now be split into two nines, or halves. The first nine is over and done with and the second nine starts with this weeks Memorial Tournament. 

2/  There will be a first nine, second nine, overall combined and Major Champ. Yep four Champ categories altogether. 

3/ Our beloved Commish is the first nine champ. Congrats.

4/  The standings will be same as before except I will not be carrying over the Major or First Half standings. On the far right of standings are two new categories. A/ Majors   B/ First Nine        These are the totals and will now be part of weekly standings. If you need to check on either just remember this page, 57, for checking purposes. Once in awhile I will put all three together. Wellllll maybe 🙃. 

5/ Any questions please feel free to ask. 

6/ Just thought of this instead of once in a while posting Major/First Half standings will just come to this page and carry over.

🎉  Cheers to Q for suggesting we break the season up into halves. In doing so it will  brighten things for those participants currently way down south in the standings. I see it providing the contest with new energy and it will make it in the end more compelling.

Played golf this afternoon, Jersey Mike's for din-din, showered, sat down to watch game...disappointed (to say the least) with the Canes...the smoke and mirrors with a back-up goalie has finally caught up with them and now Raanta's out also.

I'm pretty interested in seeing CHuntsman's picks for the week and how his horses perform at the Memorial.  Nobody else in our group has such a love for all things Buckeye's and whom also has family in Columbus. Will that juju help him to win two weeks in a row?

Made the 10 minute drive south to Umstead Pines yesterday.  Mrs NCL and I rode 18 in the sunny 88 degree and high dew point conditions.  Played mixed tees (about 5750) and shot a "steady" 98 (51-47).  36 putts, 9-14 fairways with 1 drive lost in leaves/pine straw/junk. 

 

Worst hole was the 8th, a 310 yard Par 4 with a slight R to L dogleg.  Hit a 5w off the tee for position (smart!) but clipped a branch on a left side cedar.  Punch out to 135, 8i hit short left and short-sided just in front of left bunker.  Delicate chip over sand looked nice but hit the seam of fringe/green and scooted across the green and down a slight hill.  Chipped into hill and got no forward bounce, chipped to 10 feet and 2 putted for a 8.   Plus the banana I ate on that hole was mushy...I'm just glad I didn't dribble any of my red Powerade on my sky blue shirt on that hole.

Every year I play in a Memorial Day tournament whether I need to or not.  It's a 3 day 54 hole tournament, and it is flighted and handicapped.  I have seen mistakes, I have seen moderate sandbagging, and then I saw this weekend.

 

In one of the flights a man was establishing themselves as the "net" guy to beat.  After the first day this man was only -15 net, next closest was -2.  He started to slow down a little bit on the second day and was only -14 on the day, for a two day total of -29.  A buddy of mine was paired with him the final day and started right in on the guy, before a shot was hit.  The guy was only 3 under net on the last day.  Total net?  -32.  Second place net?  -4.  The lowest flight didn't have a net division so he didn't win anything, but he has certainly been identified as a man with dubious ethics.

I haven't been on a golf course since Mr. and Mrs. NCL came to visit me earlier this month. I've been out for three weeks. That reminds me that I still have to write some words and share a few photos from when our thread brother from Chapel Hill teed it up with me.

My strained upper leg muscle has healed. I hit the range yesterday and again today and got in hours of practice.Thankfully my body feels fine after the two solid golf workouts. It did not take long to wake up my swing, maybe 15 shots.  I hit the ball well. I had fine tempo, timing, and balance. I got in plenty of putting practice and short game work as well. My touch is fine. 

I have a tee time tomorrow and will be golfing on the first day of June.

I am very grateful to be back in the game.

Hello Gentlemen of fine distinction

I am back and ready for round 2 in 22

Not gonna take the usual suspects.

Congrats go out to the Commish on his fine finish to the 1st half of the season

I have been very busy lately but want to reconnect and give it my best shot

I will be out of town in a few weeks with a long 2 day international flight that is daunting but will get through it I hope.

Well back to banter birdies and bogeys

I picked Rahm here and he was just wiping the field clean and then got Covid DQ'd in the last round with a seemingly insurmountable lead. 

The pressure cooker blew up all over the kitchen when I found out.

 

Not taking Cantlay this week

Gonna go with some guys where if they hit I can get a quick jump on the field

Rahm is not playing well but I think he catches fire here...redemption for the both of us!
