KBS Tour Lite???

Last year I did a fitting and these KBS Tour Lite Regulars were one of the recommended shafts for me.  I swing my 6i 82-84mph head speed though.

Anyway, I may go with one of the stock TrueTemper shafts for my next irons.  Anyone know which these KBS Tour Lites might compare to?  Thanks.

With a 82-84 mph 6 Iron,  i would have thought you would have fit squarely in the Stiff. Did you try the stiff Lite ?

I did not.  My irons that I brought to the fitting were Mavrik's with TT Elevate 95 VSS Stiff shafts.  Fitter said I am on the edge for swing speeds between Regular and Stiff and had me try that KBS Tour Lite with Rogue ST Max heads.  I kept the Mav's last spring, but was thinking of upgrading maybe to something else.

Older thread I started.  I hit the KBS Tour Lite yesterday with T200 and they felt like old slippers.  I think I need x-stiff or try the Tour V as an option.

IMO this is an underrated shaft that punches above its weight. KBS lists it as High Launch/High Spin. Get it on a launch monitor and you will find out it is more of a mid-high launch and mid-spin in S or X. Lower launch and spin than C-Taper Lite in controlled testing that I saw posted by Today's Golfer. For me, it was a better performer than SF 95 and Nippon 950gh on the course and launch monitor. As the TXG (CC) guys say, shafts don't spin.

I still have mine laying around if anyone is interested.   I prefer the lower launching Modus 105S in My CB's.  The KBS were def higher launching.  Great feeling shafts.  Truly underrated

Just my experience. I’ve hit the Modus 105 S in the original and MK2 ZX5’s. Launch tended to be low and spin rather inconsistent. They are a shaft that should work well for me but just don’t.

The standard Tour is billed as a slightly higher launching shaft vs. other “tour” shafts with better feel. To me, they do have athe feel part, but in order to achieve adequate height, I needed to go to R’s. At that point, they felt very good and offered no performance advantage over a number of other models, including other KBS models.

The C-Taper Lite launches significantly higher and produces higher ball speed without grossly affecting spin. Overall, they work better for me than any other shaft, which perhaps makes me a bit biased, but there’s no doubt to me that their match to the ZX5 is superb. They are a fountain of youth shaft. They don’t feel active/kicky, but they produce results similar to my DG S300’s 20 years ago.

KBS bills the Tour Lite as going further than other steel shafts, and for me that was absolutely true, almost to the yard. They fly high and they fly far, and they produce superior ball speed with no need to overswing. The downside, if you can call it that, is that they really do feel “fast”, and at least at this point I don’t necessarily need that. To me, they’re an alternative to graphite rather than a direct competitor to something like the DG105 or Modus.

what was your spin and launch difference between the c taper lite and the KBS tour lite? The Modus 105 does not spin or go high enough for me, not even close. I need to upgrade for sure, just not sure where to go next .

The last time I was able to compare them all was at a TM fitting on grass with P790’s (2021 model). Thankfully, TM’s MyFit records all…

Launch angles were within one degree. Modus spun 5600, CTL 6300, Tour Lite 6500. The killers were max height, where the TL was 4 yards higher, and landing angle, where the Modus was 44.3 and the TL 47.1. The TL is higher, longer, and stops faster.

That said, your wood shaft setup looks like it produces similar flights as mine. I feel pretty sure that I could play them and be very comfortable doing so. My main reason for going with the CTL over the TL is continuity. I really enjoy the TL’s, but they are very clearly a bit rocket launcher, whereas the CTL’s provide more than adequate performance combined with better control and set matching. If you must pick one without demo…

Modus 105s goes low and without any spin and holding greens is a challenge. Tour Lite goes high and far and just lands at a perfect descent angle to hold greens. The shaft feels light but stable, while the Modus feels much more heavy and stiff.

I was only able to hit 7 shots with the iron on the course, but so far very impressed and will be out there again tomorrow for another demo. I will never demo an iron inside, off mats or any place other than out on the course. Need to seem ballflight and divots in real time
