KBS Tour Lite???

Hello All -

Currently play the KBS Tour 90 in S.  Looking at this shaft as a replacement but cannot find info on it.  I've emailed KBS directly too, but was wondering if anyone had any input?  They are a custom shaft from TaylorMade.  Net is, trying to replace with very simialr shafts as they have done well.  I have trade in value and why I'm doing it through TM, rather than a fitter.

Thoughts/comments?

Sounds like the tour 105?

Got a response from KBS - new shaft for 2022.  May be eliminating the number of iterations of Tour, and is the same weight as the KBS Tour 90 (which isn't actually 90 across the board).  Similar bend profile but higher launching per KBS.  TM has it up early, which surprised KBS too I think.

This will also be used by Cobra this year. The KBS 90 shafts are very scarce right now.

They told me the Lite will replace 90 and 105 (if you look at the uncut weights they were almost the same already).  They also said the 85Max will be their lite weight option now.  TM shows:

Max MT 85 Stiff at 93 grams

Tour Lite Stiff at 100G

I’m interested in this thread too.  Looking at ordering a set of P770’s and saw the KBS Tour Lite offering in TM’s custom options.  Thought this might be the same as the KBS Tour 90 but the picture shows a shaft label different then that on the Tour 90.  The TM custom website also doesn’t show whether this is a taper tip (.355”) or parallel (.370”) shaft and butt diameter (.600”).  Weights seem to be the same but wondering if it’s a different profile.  Surprised TM didn’t provide more info on it like the other shaft offerings.

Both the Tour Lite and Tour 90 show them as high launch and high spin so maybe it’s just a re-branding move on KBS’s part?!?   Also curious if this is a stepped shaft (i.e. Tour 90) or stepless design, like the $ Taper Lite.

Definitely hoping this is NOT the KBS MAX shaft that TM offers on their Sim iron line.

If you have any more info from TaylorMade or KBS, I’d sure appreciate sharing it in this thread.   Thanks!

I was told the MAX was staying, and this was replacing the 90 and 105.  But also that it is higher launching than the current 90 and 105, to help with the power specs of the distance irons out there.  Seems KBS is going through some changes.

Ordered the P790 today with KBS Tour Lite hardstepped once.  Says shipping 2/14/22 - we'll see.  Not shipping my old ones back yet 🙂

Mine are on their way to Club Champion now.  Looks like TM has them available for the P790 also.

At $45 per shaft, I can't see myself selecting KBS for future builds.

Nippon NS Pro 950 or 8950 at $25, even Modus3 at $37 are better value. TT Elevate ETS with VSS at $36 also a good option. Heck, Shimada shafts can be obtained for less.

Just letting you know guys that I ordered a set of the new WILSON D9 FORGED, and I asked for the KBS TOUR 105 (stiff) but the set arrived with the KBS TOUR LITE (Stiff).

So I guess it proves as someone said earlier, that the KBS TOUR LITE is replacing the TOUR 90 and the TOUR 105.

And btw I'm not mad at all to have recieved the TOUR LITE instead of the TOUR 105. I found it a good surprise as I was affraid the 110g from the TOUR 105 S might have slow my swing speed a bit.

(my swing speed is 83mph with a 7 iron and my old 95g shaft)

Re-igniting this thread.

Can someone answer: Are R, S, X designations in the Tour Lite just weight references or do the flexes actually vary?

vary in flex

I doubt the  s and x will be "true"  to  flex  maybe a bit softer

But thats just a semi educated  guess!

I am confused by this product on the website the KBS TOUR LITE recommended swing speed is 60-68mph for each of the the shaft flexes. That can't be accurate is it?

Additionally, I just had my Srixon ZX5 seven iron reshafted with KBS Tour Lite X flex (in place of Modus 105S).

Same length, same Golf Pride MCC grip, one wrap.  Swing weight dropped down from the standard Srixon D2 (with Modus shaft), to C8 with the new KBS Tour Lite X flex....C8??!!

Haven't tested the iron yet but C8 isn't what i was expecting.

Has anyone else experienced this with the new KBS Tour Lite shafts?

I'm currently testing these shafts courtesy of wrx and kbs.  I gamed Modus 105S in ZX7's and just swapped shafts.

ZX7 with KBS Tour Lite 100S and I have the 105X in PW.  These are really really good shafts!  I never thought I'd say this, but I actually prefer them to the Modus...though, they feel very similar, with the Tour Lite having a stiffer tip.  They feel a little stiffer, and my dispersion was better.  They are just a few grams under the 105's, so the swingweight was a point under.

I weighed both the 37" 100S and  37" 105X shafts.  The 100 was 99.2g and the 105 was 103.9g

Hope this helps

image.png.465e59ceb9d1e30bb02378a074924fc4.pngMaybe that was my problem.  I would def be in the x-stiff category based on above.  Dispersion for me with P790's was not good and I've moved away.  I had them hardstepped once, and the KBS Tour 90's previously.

There was another thread about KBS Tour 90 where someone was looking for a replacement. I can’t find the thread any longer, but someone spoke to KBS and was told the 90 stiff was a tour 110 regular soft stepped twice. I tend to believe that based on lining up the two shafts. I have a tour 110 regular 5-iron shaft and a tour 90 stiff 4-iron shaft. The step patterns are exactly the same except the tip is 1.5” longer on the 90 stiff, which would make it a 110 regular 2-iron shaft. Both shafts are taper tip. Take this info as you’d like but these are my observations.

surely the weights are different?

i would like to see  the frequency  of the series of  Tour Lites  through  the Tour

I reckon pretty close to  3.5/4/4.5 in the tour lites  then   5/5.5 etc in the Tours

would be al ot simpler than having a X in the tour lite being softer than the  R in the Tours?

Last year I did a fitting and these KBS Tour Lite Regulars were one of the recommended shafts for me.  I swing my 6i 82-84mph head speed though.

Anyway, I may go with one of the stock TrueTemper shafts for my next irons.  Anyone know which these KBS Tour Lites might compare to?  Thanks.
