G/Fore MG4X2

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of MG4+ on the way so very excited to try. Bought them because of high praise of G/Fore sale... Prior though, I will say I was basically all Puma with one Nike pair. The ProAdapt are a great spiked shoe, extremely comfortable. The RS-One was probably the most comfortable golf shoe / shoe I have ever worn. Huge fan of those.

Wow. Shocked at some of these reviews.  The code chaos is most comfy Adidas shoe by a long shot of mine.   Hate the looks, but great walking shoe.  The MG4 is only shoe i like better for walking.  The MG4x2 is even better unless you have a narrow foot.  I could see that being a problem.

the new adidas 360 were the best looking (love that white with blue bottoms and slight red accent) but they just were not as comfy as the previous models if 360 for me.  The top of the shoe felt like a lot less room pressing down on the top of my foot.

I thought the same thing on the MG4+ for what it's worth. They're comfortable, but ... the rave reviews they get make me wonder if those people have ever tried on Adidas shoes with Boost. Completely different league.

Currently in the ZG21 and I find the MG4+ more comfortable

And that is not to say the ZG21 are not comfortable, they are very comfortable

Just a personal preference

They did not have my size when I needed shoes otherwise I would be in the MG4+

Sure, that's totally fair. I made that comment thinking more about spikeless Boost shoes like Solarthons, which I think are more of a direct comparison to MG4+.

Well said and agree with w everything you just said. Especially how the new 360’s fit. I returned mine back to Amazon the same day.

Can’t wait for the MG4x2 to show up at the door.

I tried on every Adidas shoe at PGA SS on Sat and I am an Adidas guy. Love the boost. Absolutely could not find one that fit correctly. Some were too tight in the toe, some had the heal come up too much, and some just were not it. Moved on the G/Fore and hoping for the best.

I have never tried the Solathons

I can see the comparison

I will say the ZG21 are the most stable shoe around an have incredible traction.

I almost rolled my ankle the 1st time I hit a ball with them

I tried the Gallivanters 1st and they were too tight in the toe for me

Returned them and got the MG4+

Like all golf equipment, its trial and error.

Sometime more error

I agree.  Bought the galivanters as i love  the look.   Toe box was way too tight. That’s how i stumbled on the the Mx4.

I have owned every brand of golf shoe and for the past year, I am wearing MG4+ and FJ Premieres.  I did not like the Galivanters.  G/Fore did a great job with the design, grip, stability and comfort of the MG4+.  An added bonus is they clean up really easily.

This is the exact same pair I was looking at but they were not in my size

So I moved to the ZG21

These are so nice

I am going to look again for my size for the summer

How is the 'breathability' of the MG4 or MG4x2?
I live in a hot and humid climate, so rarely touch full leather and they just don't breath as much.

In my trying on of both sets the MG4X2 would breath MUCH better than the MG4+. I live in AZ and walk year round and that was another reason I went MG4X2. Oh wait.. I went all black too. Oops.

Bummed. Just got my MG4X2 in size 12 and there is just too much room in the toe and heel area. I previously tried on 11.5 at the store and they were too tight. I made some practice swing with these on and my heel was turning sideways inside the shoe. If they even fit right, I am not they are stable enough for me and my liking. I currently wearing Adidas 360 Prime Knits and thought those were a little unstable, but they are even less.

Man they are crazy comfortable though. Wow! I think they are just not for me. Sure did want to love them. Great looking shoe also.

I agree in the toe area.  I like my toes to splay so it doesn’t bother me but my heel lock down was pretty good.   Too bad.  Good luck finding the right shoes.

They're not leather, some kind of vinyl.  Very waterproof.  I would say they don't breathe at all.  They're my wet weather shoe.

That’s the regular MG4. The MG4x2 are knit and look very breathable.

Anybody who's bought the MG4x2 have some feedback on how/if they break in? I have an 11.5 in the Gallivanter and they fit perfect, but the 11.5 in the MG4x2 feels just a bit snug. Wondering if they'll stretch out a little bit as I fear a 12 might be too big...

I have had MG4x2 for quite a while now, and I while I still think they are very comfy and look great, I honestly only wear them if I am riding. Personally I find my Code Chaos comfier for walking.

I live in Northern Australia, so it's very hot and humid nearly all year round. No problems with it being too hot to wear. I do find my mostly white pair get dirty very easily, but that's probably a given due to the colour.

As to whether I would buy them again, I would if I wanted to splurge, but my Code Chaos could do the same, and you could easily find them on sale.
If I could find MG4x2 on sale (basically only one or two stockists in all of Aus so rarely on sale), I'd definitely buy them.

In terms of sizing, I have both 10.5US in Code Chaos (older model) and the MG4x2 and both fit me well.
