Jones Sports Spring 2022

Not sure if this was already posted, but I hadn't seen it here. I've been following Jones IG and website but hadn't found anything until I came across this catalog. I missed out of the Black Friday sale, but I'll probably buy the Charcoal/Sienna when these release, supposedly soon.

Looks like a $20 increase on the Original bags.  Might jump on one now while still can get for $140ish

Dear Jones, please use a base on the trouper like you use on the utility and design an actual double strap.

Looks like they addressed one of the knocks I had on the Trouper 2.0.  I'm not that big a guy and found the straps to be very tight.

These should drop March 1st from what I was told. I am between this and a Vessel VLS. Looks like Jones made an effort to fix the latest complaints on the Trouper 2.0. I don’t love the cooler pocket; but leaning towards Jones. 
 

Love a minimalist look. Anyone have any other recs?

Nice! I just checked site and all the colorways that were not even shown as an option before were now shown as out of stock. 

 

I'd wait for the 2022, but after looking at the improvements, none of them really apply to me:

-I don't need embroidery options, or longer straps, or an additional cell phone pocket.

 

Do any 2.0 owner's see any other big changes from images? I didn't own a 2.0 so I don't see much difference besides colorway.

I agree. Love the 2022 charcoal/sienna colorway, but for $100 more + 1 month longer wait I'm not sure if it's worth it over snagging a 2.0 Mid-town grey.

I just ordered the Stone. Was planning on Midtown Grey too, but changed my mind last second. Will probably get dirty quick, but excited for it. I'll use the $100 savings on some new headcovers.

That's funny because I am debating the exact same thing. I've had the same bag for 20 years so I'm indecisive.

If it matters to you, it looks like Stone will ship March 8'ish while Midtown Grey will ship late March.

 

I'm still debating Midtown Grey vs waiting for 2022 Charcoal/Sienna, but don't think I want to pay $100 more for the colored strap given the other changes don't seem drastic.

The only difference between the Trouper 2.0 and the the Trouper R is the recycled material and colors, other than that, the bags are the exact same. 

 

I went with Stone this morning. Hard to beat 30% off.

Yeah, I have had my Hoofer for 6 years. It has no issues and is a fantastic bag, but just want something new with minimal branding.

That took way longer than it should have for me to decide between Stone vs Mid-town Gray, but went with Stone due to it shipping several weeks sooner.

 

My Stone set to arrive tomorrow.

Got mine the other day. Looks great. Just thought I'd jot down some observations when comparing to Hoofer:

 

Club organization is great. Tangle in Hoofer never bothered me, but haven't seen any yet which is nice. I like the putter well more than I thought.

 

The straps aren't as bad as some of the reviews I've seen. I don't think there are straps better than the Hoofer, but these will be fine. Just need adjusting and getting used to reaching for the 2nd strap which isn't always in the best place. I feel like they gave up some two strap functionality for easier single strap conversion; which I'll probably start using more often. I split between carry, push and ride often enough. Just seems odd that what I would consider the main strap that would be used for single is the one that is removable. The other could work, but not nearly as well. Maybe I am missing something? Would be great if they both could snap off. Tempted to modify that.

 

Pocket layout is good, but again I don't think another bag has better pocket organization than a Hoofer. I don't drink a lot while golfing, but I will definitely use the cooler. Every bag should store a rain hood in it's lumbar support. Leaving it in the main pocket is annoying. 

 

Anyway, pretty happy with it overall. It was between this or a custom "no logo" Hoofer, couldn't pass up this deal or wait 6+ more months. Goes well with the Jan Craig headcovers that GG was blowing out a while back, but I might be getting something different.

Looks like this bag would set up well for me--- I ride because of health issues but I like the stand for the range sessions. I have a older non stand Jones I love but it is not user friendly as far as the range and practice. I use it mostly for my vintage play. Right now I am using a 15 year old TM R-7 which I have absolutely zilch in money wise. For me with the combo way I use it is the most user friendly bag I own. Yours looks nice and I think it would set up nice for me.

I'm going to update my review after walking my first nine holes. I think for your needs as single strap with stand for mostly cart use , this would be a great bag. Unfortunately for me, I thought I could get along with the double straps and I don't think that is the case. I'm likely going to return the bag.

These have always been, aesthetically, my favorite bags. It is truly a shame that it seems nearly impossible to find a bag 1.5-2lbs lighter with the same visual appeal and roughly similar feature set.

Agree with this. I've taken mine out twice (pushed once, carried the other). The push was great, but I'm going to have to figure out the double straps because carrying wasn't great.

Interesting. My double straps work no better but no worse than my previous Hoofer. I do have my left shoulder strap (with the Jones logo) underneath my main strap which I've seen a lot of pictures posted the opposite. The bag came like that so that's how I started. I doubt it makes any difference but maybe?

Yep, that was it. Also just needed to spend more time re-adjusting the straps. Loving the bag. Still figuring out ideal pocket layout that's about it.

Picked up an original in the new (?) charcoal colorway to see how it works for a 1/2 set.  Color looks better in person vs website pics...
