Jones Sports Spring 2022

I have a Jones original.  That does not have a spine.  When I'm waiting on a shot, I lean the bag against me. It is stiff enough that it won't collapse.  It wasn't very good on a golf cart.  The strap to hold the bag in place would pinch the bag and it made the clubs somewhat difficult to remove and replace.

Can anyone post a pic of the Trouper R top?  Also how does this bag compare to a Hoofer?

Here’s the top of the bag divider. I love it. Keeps everything where it needs to be.

It's working well for me too. FWIW I only carry 13 clubs so I have three in each of the compartments and the putter is in the putter well.

I’ll have 13 in the bag once my T200 2-iron comes in this week. I stuck another wedge in and walked around with 13 clubs and the bag is fairly light. I feel that it’s lighter than my Hoofer and I have the same stuff in this bag.

I concur with this statement.  I have 14 clubs with mid size grips and I have zero club tangle with the trouper r  bag fully loaded.   I cannot say that about my hoofer.

I’m most likely going to walk the course this weekend so I’ll have an even better idea of how it compares to a Hoofer. I got rid of my Stars and Stripes Hoofer in favor of this bag. I still have my mascot bag from when I was a student assistant for the women’s team at my college. That was quite fun to be a part of.  
 

The Trouper R is a fantastic bag. I know some people are thrown off by the cooler pocket but I’ve used it in the following ways:

1. Pockets on the sides of the cooler hold tees and balls. Cooler has my valuables pouch and miscellaneous items.
2. Pockets on sides hold the same stuff, pocket on the left holds my gloves and valuables when I am using the cooler for cold water if I’m on the range or walking.

On a riding cart you can run the strap through the handle and it helps support the bag both from collapsing and on the cart with out over tightening it. Problem around here is too many bag drop guys are not trained and get into a hurry and do not care and squeeze the crap out of a bag. I quit using my Vintage Hoofer for that reason. I use a older Jones Classic which is stiff and that is not an issue there. At the course where I am a member the owners sons work the bag drop so the squeezing of the bags is not an issue. I had bought the old Jones used about 5 years ago and used it to combat the squeeze issue and basically fell in love with it and have not switched back. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on a Bomber Original since Carls Golfland has them on sale with free shipping. A bud of mine uses one on a riding cart with no issues that is how I know about the strap through the handle thing.

So is the consensus that this is equivalent or better than the 5 way Hoofer?

More space and less tangle than a Hoofer. Personally, I don't think it carries anywhere near as balanced and nice as a Hoofer.  The bags are amazing looking but that wasn't enough to offset the disappointing carry experience.

I very rarely carry anymore, but I still think a stand bag is easier to manipulate in and out of the car, leg functionality for the range etc.  Love the traditional old-school look of these 🙂

Yep thats exactly the same for me.  I never carry, if I walk I use a push cart and this works just fine on it.  

 

The only negatives I have on the bag are:  The legs will spread out if you stand it on your garage floor so just be careful there, and I don't super love the big cooler pocket and would almost prefer to have a ball pocket and a place for tees, however I just use one of the pockets beside the cooler for balls and then got a small zipper bag I put tees/ballmakers in and it works just fine.  

 

I had used a 2021 SM 3.5 bag and its better balanced, bigger top, and more storage, but this one looks sooooo much better and is probably 95% as functional.

I had the equivalent Nike Sport Lite bag and hated the narrow 5-way divider set up that the Trouper has, ymmv

How the material on the new Trouper R? I usually only buy dark bags incase they get dirt all over them. Kind of like the Moon Gray but dont want it getting destroyed by the dirt if it does not wipe off easily

I'm really wanting another Jones bag. Already. I'm torn between the Players Series and Utility Rover to have as a second bag and lightweight walking option.

Pulled the trigger on a black camo utility today.  I love the OG Utility stand bag, so this was a welcomed treat to see it on the site again.  Highly underrated bag and when Jones stopped making them, I think it was a huge loss for their lineup.

I had quite the situation. I ordered the Camino Sunday Bag, loved it, saw the Jones Player Series R Sonoma and had to have it. I ended up canceling due to liking the Camino. Order was cancelled and money was refunded but then a bag showed up anyway. I called Jones to tell them about what happened, got a nice discount on it, and I am now keeping the Sonoma bag.

 

It. Is. Beautiful.

How is it compared to the Camino? I returned my camino, the club tangle/no spine & the base didn't' agree with me.

It's a solid bag. I feel like with the spine it gets a touch tighter but I've got 12 clubs and I honestly find it's fine. I stand up my bag and hold the handle while I am pulling a club and have no issues. I am glad I have this Jones bag. Love it.

NOPE! They seem to sit perfectly along the edge of the bag. The putter is nice and snug on the top section since I have my alignment sticks, driver, 3 wood, and 4-6 irons.

The Sonoma is an absolute beauty. Has there been any word of them releasing other colors in that style? The trim, strap and hardware seem a step above the regular models.
